You were currently tampering with a seedling finding it rare for it was a set of quadruplets. Even in the presence of the children playing about, you find yourself being... lonely? You suppose that's the word, but you pushed it aside for them remembering the times where you begin to miss these times.
" Mama?"
You looked at Sebastian who seems shy all of a sudden.
" I miss papaw and mama's friends...."
You put down your handiwork and pat your lap which he complied in climbing into it. You wrapped your arms around him propping your head upon his own. You pause before speaking hoping it doesn't upset him.
" It might be some time, but as soon as we can, we'll be knocking back at grandfather's doors with all our belongings at hand, okay?"
" Okay mama. I'm alright as long as I have you and my siblings."
You land a kiss on the crown of his head, and he stays there for sometime while you studied the babies before you. You can't wait to give it to Zekial or the Board of witchcraft wondering who'll be the lucky soul to retrieve it. You were thinking about telling a story to pass the time when the front door slams open nearly swinging it off its hinges. Sebastian buried his head into your chest as you face an angry Kerberos.
" Roman, come here! You're leaving with me!"
Roman finds himself running behind you, and you find yourself standing up even though Sebastian begs to stay where he's at. You walk up to the three headed deity to explain, but before you even have a chance, he grabs at the cloth baring your chest pulling you in fatherly close.
" How could you?! You take my child back to this miserable planet for a lover?!"
You snatched his hand away, and he waits for some reply. You calmly informed him what happened especially including when your grandfather told him to take him along with you.
" I don't know why, but he thought they would be safer with me."
" That's ludicrous! You're lying!"
" I promise you Kerberos. You know me by now. Im sure you can ask the others in a secure place where the Gods can't hear you."
He softens then and let's all his anger out into a miserable huff. To make things better, Roman comes hugging his leg in hopes in to make him happy, and he responds by picking up his son up in a gentle hug.
" I thought I lost you again. You are my son, and I love you dearly Roman."
" I know papa."
" May I stay the evening Y/n?"
" As long as no one knows you're hear, that's completely fine. How did you find me anyways?"
He goes quiet for a second before putting Roman down in fear you might become upset.
" I.. I had you marked in case this happened again. I'm sorry, but I couldn't risk this again."
" Well, I'm glad you're here. You can keep us in good company."
He nods the children now surrounding him.
....
It was nightfall now, and Kerberos occasionally looked in your direction as you tweaked a set of wrongs from your own back into a purple glassling.
" Why are you doing that?"
" I'm just preventing boredom."
Maybe it would be best to not to do this around Kerberos for what if he found out the the truth? You were about to place it back into a womb when he intercepts it studying the child before him. He smiles kindly upon it rubbing a clawed finger over it. You suddenly think about your Astral child, and you saw no harm in showing him.
" Wait here."
He was curious to where he was going, but he says nothing while you waltz upstairs rather quickly. You gently slip your hand beneath your pillow revealing your one in a million; it illuminating brightly in your grasp. You walk slowly down the steps, and Kerberos gaze falls on your grasp seeing its electricity from a far. Once closer, he stands appearing to have forgotten about the Glassling at the new specimen.
" What type of fae is this?"
" It isn't."
You cause him to take a step back as you shifted into a new skin feeling the vibration of your core deep within your chest. Your right gauntlet forms which instantly alarms him as well with the bright blue wall behind you. It suddenly clicks within his mind what this is, and he looks upon you purely intrigued at what you are.
" This.. This child is tied into the Astral?"
" From what I'm seeing?"
" And no father?"
You saw that glint in his eyes, and you find your disappointment for the immortal appear knowing what was forth coming in his mind. You pulled he or she close to your chest. You stared down at it not realizing Kerberos is advancing towards you. He places a hand in your shoulder tipping your chin in his direction.
" What if I offer it for the little one?"
" Kerberos... I don't know. We.. We've never been intimate in any sort of way, and.. and I want the father to be with someone that I want to be forever with."
" I understand. There's still time after all though.... Make I take the Glassling?"
You nod as he scoops up the child accepting the consequences at a later date. You allowed him to go upstairs to say his goodbyes to Roman and the boys leaving you alone with the Gemling. Now back to your original state, you sat for some time thinking of Kerberos proposal, but it didn't seem to appealing. Maybe if you spent a little more time with him... Maybe you should just keep the child to yourself. You would be nice to call it your own you suppose.
A storm starts to rage outside, and you listen to the sound of the droplets hitting the roof. You placed the stone on the table bringing back your gauntlet, and as you studied it, Kerberos joined you again now voicing his opinion on the dangers of it.
" If that is what I think it is, then you should reframe from using it. The Guardians were killed a very long time ago for their strength, and if the Gods knew you were in a position of an Astral one? It surely would make your case a lot worse."
" Not a surprise."
