After night had ended and the sun had risen to the sky. Shinobu slowly opened her eyes until she noticed the boy next to her who held a warm smile on his face.
"So how did you sleep?" The boy asked as he sat there watching Shinobu
"Good, thank you," Shinobu said and started to sit up
"That's good!" The boy said with a bigger smile, "And no problem happy to be of service to you"
Shinobu just nods at him and gets up from where she had slept. The whole night felt like a dream to her. It didn't feel real yet the very boy who helped her is sitting right in front of her right now.
"Thank you, but I must get going," Shinobu said
"Huh? Why?" He asked
"I'm thankful for your hospitality really but I don't can't stay here just in case my mother comes and gets me" She answered
"Where to?" He asked
"I'm not sure but away from that hill if possible," She said
"I see..." The boy stared out of the window, "Hey how about I help?"
"Why?" She asked
"Because I want to," He said
"That's a stupid reason," She said
"No, it's not," He said
"Yes it is"
"No, it isn't!"
"Yes it is"
"No, it is"
"Yes it is"
"Yes it is"
"No, it isn't..." Shinobu stared at the boy whose grin grew even larger somehow
"Got you," He said
"..." Shinobu just sighed, "What about your friends and family?"
"Simple we will do it at night," He said
"Huh?" She couldn't understand his thought process
"Don't you understand? If we are going to leave now isn't a good option, you don't even have anything to protect yourself, you don't even have any gear. How can I trust you that you won't somehow get hurt in any way?" He asked
"... You make a point," She said then looked away trying to not make eye contact with him, "But why do you want to help me this much? We don't even know each other?"
"Well even though I don't know you for that long. You are my friend and that's what friends do. Ok" He said
"Ok" She responded
"Alright we have the full day to get ready come on now isn't the time to sit still lets go!" He grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the house
"Where are we going?" She asked
"First let's go get some food from the bakers, you will need self-defense, also some bandages just in case, water, some sleeping gear, and many more" He counted on his fingers and then started rushing again. She didn't get time to respond to the list but went along with it.
They darted from one place to another gathering items for Shinobu so she could set out on her journey to be free. Time flew by fast and they were able to gather lots of different things for her journey.
"Alright, it's time for you to learn self-defense!" He said
"You know some?" She asked
"Why of course I do, I'm flexible in many things," He said
"Ok," She said
"I'll teach you standard self-defense so-" He said, the duo ended up taking their time until it had reached sunset.
"Alright, I'm tired. come on let's go rest up before you depart" He said
"Thank you," She said
"No problem I'm happy that I met you," He said and grinned
Shinobu had become mesmerized by that smile each time he shone it she felt her heart skip a beat and her face warm up.
"Aww you're blushing" He teased
"What's that?" She asked
"Well either you are embarrassed or you are in love with me," He said
"Ehhhh!?" She stood in surprised
"Hehe, well anyways let go" Then the duo headed back to his house.
As a few hours went by so did the sun and night finally had set. A full moon could be seen as the rays glimmered across the waters and rooftops.
"Ok, you ready?" He whispered, she nods and the two jumped out of the window., "This way, follow me"
The two ran passed multiple dimmed-out houses and buildings. They ran weaving between paths. "We are almost there" They see a bridge that crosses to an area full of small and large trees. "I would love to come with you, but you know how it goes," He said as he looked back at her.
"Thank you again I'm truly in your debt" She bowed
"No problem princess" He grinned
"I thought you stopped calling me that," She said
"Haha, no way I just didn't feel like saying it that's all." He said
"Shinobu..."
"Huh?"
"My name is Kuki Shinobu"
"Well then Shinobu it was a pleasure meeting you and spending time with you. We will be reunited again I'm sure of it. Hey, one last thing."
"Hmm?"
"When we meet again. Let's get married"
"What!?"
"Hahaha kidding, kidding. Have a safe trip" He said
"Mhm Goodbye H____" She started to cross the bridge, "Ah why not" She took in a deep breathe walked back over to him, and kissed him on the cheek, "OK now this is goodbye"
He was stunned by what had just happened, "A-ah goodbye!" He waved, and she waved back disappearing into the woods.
