Madison gets out of bed and looks at the mirror. Today is her first day of a new college since her family couldn't afford the school bills. They just kept rising in price. She brushes her teeth and inspects herself through the mirror.
"I hope to God nobody notices my scar."
The scar, in question, is on her stomach. It's not a big scar, just about 4 centimeters in length. But the way she got it she considers embarrassing. She puts her school attire on and walks out of her dorm.
When she leaves the dorm, there is a group of boys by her dorm.
"Wow, she's even uglier than expected!" One of the boys would snicker.
"She looks like the kind of person to snitch the teacher on a teacher," one of the other boys teased.
One boy fell silent and didn't say anything.
Madison tried to walk past but one of the boys would trip her, making her faceplant into the ground.
"Alright boys, let's scram before she tattles!" And just like that, they all fled the scene.
All for except one.
The boy who stayed back walked to Madison and held out his hand. Madison would hesitantly grab it. The boy pulls Madison back up to her feet. "What a couple of jackasses." The boy crossed his arms and scoffed. "My name is Rowan. What about you?"
Madison would adjust her shirt before answering. "My name is Madison," she said blankly. She checks out Rowan and looks back at herself. "I overdressed, haven't I?"
"There's a problem with that? You look great!" Rowan tells her.
"Oh. Thanks." Madison didn't blush a single bit. "I should probably be getting to my class."
"What do you have?"
"Science."
Rowan's eyes widen. "Really? Me too!"
"Cool."
They both walk to science class to start off their day.
