When Madison and Rowan walk into the classroom, the teacher is writing on the board.
"Good morning, Ms. Ploom!" Rowan waves at her.
Ms. Ploom looks at Rowan and waves him off. That's the most of a "hello" you can get out of her.
𝘞𝘩𝘰'𝘴 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 "𝘗𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘮?" Madison would mutter to herself.
"Wait until the others get here and then we'll assign seats," Ms. Ploom informs the two. "Oh, and you, the new girl, take a look around if you want."
Madison looks around the classroom to get comfortable with her surroundings and sees there's a poster with a cheesy chemistry joke that's not funny in any which way.
"If they really think this will get us to like class more, they need to get help," Madison sneers.
"I think it's good decoration," Rowan adds.
Madison screams a little bit. "Where did you come from?!"
"I've been standing here for the past minute," claims Rowan
"Sure.."
10 minutes would pass and everybody else would walk in.
"Good morning class," Ms Ploom says, students repeating in unison. "Today we are going to work on something our district hasn't worked on for a while because some people like to goof off. But first, lets assign seats. Group one is going to be Tom and Brynn."
Tom and Brynn walk to their chairs. Madison recognizes Tom from the group of boys.
"Group two is Alex and Teo."
Madison could've swore she heard one of them cheer. Maybe both.
"Group three is Francis and Willow. Group four is Cade and Mark." Cade and Mark walk to their seats, talking to eachother. Madison also recognized Mark from the group.
Madison looks around the room and sees there is only two people standing, herself included.
"Lastly, group five is Madison and Rowan."
Madison looks at Rowan, who gives her a "𝘞𝘦'𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦-𝘵𝘩𝘦-𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵-𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱!" look. She exchanges with a "𝘋𝘰𝘯'𝘵-𝘎𝘦𝘵-𝘈𝘯𝘺-𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴" look. They both walk to their seats without saying anything.
Madison swears he keeps looking at her, but every time she turns to look at him, he's looking forward.
"Today, we are making paper rockets," Ms. Ploom says.
The class all cheers except for Rowan and Madison. Rowan seems frightened and Madison really just couldn't care less. Ms. Ploom leaves the room to grab materials.
"Rockets?! How are we supposed to make rockets?" Rowan would slightly freak out.
"Calm down," Madison says quietly. "I'm sure it's just like paper maché or something, we'll be fine. It won't be rocket science or anything."
Ms. Ploom walks back with a bunch of paper and wires.
"What's those wires for, Ms. Ploom?" Asked Teo.
"It's to help launch your rocket. We're in science, you have to learn what launches a rocket."
Madison slams her face into her desk.
"'It won't be rocket science' you said," Rowan teased. Ms. Ploom gives out the materials to each group. "I'm guessing we should get to work?"
"No, I thought we should just wait until the wind makes it," Madison replied.
Rowan chuckled. "You're funny."
"Didn't try to."
The two get shushed by Alex, who is working on her rocket. "Me and Teo are trying to work here!"
"Babe, it's okay," Teo said, trying to comfort his girlfriend. "Besides, you're being louder than them."
Alex sighed and slumped in her chair.
Madison turns back to Rowan. "Alright, let's get to work." Madison pulls out the wires and starts to untangle them. Rowan starts folding the paper into a rocket.
