"good morning rei, welcome back to us" i said
"thank you pilot ikari, it is good to be back, where is colonel katsuragi" rei asked
"she is not with us, you are seeing the only members of NERV currently" i said
"NERV not WILLE" rei asked with a tilt of her head
"gendo ikari is dead, as his son i inherited all that was his you have been gone for some time there is much to catch you up on" i said
"of course, then you are the commander" she asked
"technically yes, i am" i said
"very well, then i am at your disposal commander ikari" she said, i shook my head
"never change rei, never change, come there is much to discuss and explain, oh we have a guest with us currently she is as of this moment not a part of NERV, but she is under NERV's protection" i said
"understood" rei said, as we made our way to my office wherein we explained everything that happened since the last impact event, upto the current moment
"i see, the NERV technically doesn't exist" she said
"as an organization no, but i control of all of NERV's resources, past and present that includes your own unit-00 which was somehow brought back, i intend to disassemble all evangelions, with the exception of unit-01, which will only function with me as it's pilot" i said
"the evangelion with the greatest security measure" mari said, i nodded
"in the meantime we will be resurrected into as mammon family, i ask will you join me" i asked
"i will endeavor to be useful to you commander" rei replied, in her usual manner, i sighed
"good enough i guess" i said before turning to mari
"you know i'm in boss" mari said, i sighed in relief
"good, the devils want access to the contents of our base, i want to make sure we are still involved just in case, they are devils after all even if we will soon be one of them, it wouldn't be that surprising if devils could double cross each other, and while i intend to take apart the evangelions the MAGI system and ayanami series are a different story, rei i leave the fate of the ayanami series to you, and you alone, i have half a mind to deactivate the MAGI system simply because i do not trust the brain that keeps the system functioning" i said
"if that is the problem, i would recommend using one of my clones to replace the current core of the MAGI system, i am at your disposal commander, the entire ayanami series is likely at your service, use us as you wish, commander" rei said, while her voice was devoid of emotion there was this determined look in her eyes
"are you sure rei" i asked
"so long as the ayanami series exists i can be disposable without being truly lost, that is a useful tool not to be discarded" rei said
"very well, the ayanami series will be the primary guinea pigs for all experiments moving forward, rei i want you to get started on replacing the MAGI systems core, and if possible upgrading the MAGI system using the technology at our disposal
"understood, i will get to work immediately"
"good, we will start work on other projects alongside our new devil kin, i need to get in contact with michael, mari i want you to take the nachi, find a church, and inform them that azrael wishes to speak with michael" i said
"ok boss, i'll get it done" she said
"dismissed" i said
two weeks later michael came to the island, to meet with shinji
"you called for me" he asked
"the devils have extended an offer to make me an extra-devil, specifically the headship of the mammon family" i said
"ah i see, you summoned me because of the excaliburs" he said i nodded
"my first loyalty will be to the devils after my rebirth, but since that hasn't happened yet i figured i'd give you the opportunity" i said
"you are still the most defendable position we have, keep them" he said
"i intend to start experimenting those swords will be on the table with everything else in my base" i said
"i understand, i request you allow me to pick two exorcists to take part in these experiments" he said
"i can agree to that on the condition that they are aware they will be working with devils, and i do not mean myself, lord beelzebub will likely be setting up shop here as well so to speak" is aid
"i'll be sure to inform them, they will understand your origins and why we trust you, do you intend to take apart your evangelions" michael asked
"all but one, my own, i like to have contingency plans in place and EVA unit-01, is one hell of a plan B" i said
"i see, very well, the exorcists i send will be under your protection correct" he asked
"so long as they do not start any fights they will, i will not protect them from fights they start, especially if they choose to pick a fight with me or mine" i said
"understood, that is acceptable thank you for informing me, do you intend to use your human name or your angel name" he asked
"i will be azrael mammon upon my rebirth, i will be glad to be rid of the ikari name" i said
"very well, thank you for sating my curiosity, if that is all" he said
"it is thank you for visiting michael" i said
"of course cousin" he said, as he bid me farewell before leaving
