The first thing that Maggie did as she snapped back into reality, was plug in her vinyl player. Once she did that, the next two hours were spent playing music and staring right into the ceiling, so far she had counted 525,600 bumps on the ceiling and in the far corner spotted something that looked suspiciously like a cobweb that she vowed to deal with later. She looked slightly underneath that bunk, and almost facepalmed herself through a wall. There was a ginormous fact she had just elected to ignore in her trance. She was sitting atop a bunk bed. There was a matching one on the other side of the room. A thought popped into her mind, one that probably should have occurred to her hours ago: Where were her roommates? Just as that question had popped into her head, she heard muffled fighting from down the hall.
"All I'm saying is it would be a bad idea," one voice said
"And all I'm saying is:yolo." another voice argued back
"Samantha please," a third voice sighed, Maggie guessed she was very very tired. Before Maggie could get off the bed, the door slammed open and Maggie did the most rational thing she could have done, she back flopped off the latter onto the floor in shock. Three girls stood before with varying levels of shock, Maggie just wanted to close her eyes and die. But that wasn't possible without getting up so she once again did the coolest thing:
"um..hey" she said, shooting them finger guns in the process . The tallest one barked out a laugh while the blonde turned disappointedly and the girl with black hair elbowed her. The blonde came forward and helped her while the black haired girl silently yelled at the tall girl with her eyes... Maggie was starting to put voices to faces very quickly...
"are you good?"the blonde asked once she had gotten Maggie up.
"oh me? never better" Maggie could feel her face getting redder and it felt like her face was going to melt off of her skull.
"I'm sure,"she smiled "You must be Margret, I'm Emily"She turned to the bickering pair behind her, pointed to the taller one and said, "the fake blonde is Sam and the one with the rbf is Erin," They stopped arguing once they heard their names, smiled, waved, than went right back to fighting. Maggie looked back at Emily who was still looking at the other girls like a tired mother. "Don't worry, " she spoke again, finally turning back, "they aren't like this all the time, they just missed each other over summer, this is how they show their love," as if reading Maggies's mind. This slightly comforted Maggie, I mean her room wouldn't be a war zone ( most likely) but on the other hand, this was apparently a very tight friend group which she had just walked into.
"Oh yeah, I'm Margret, but you can call me Maggie....wait how did you know my name?" She asked, she really hoped this girl wasn't some stalker murderer, that would be a bit inconvenient for her studies.
"Oh it's on the door."She walked over, roughly shoved through Sam and Erin and flung the door back open and presented the small sign on the corner of the door with jazz hands. The sign had all of their names on it, though she couldn't quite make out the others names, she could see the room number because it was a bit bigger, 3D. So she's not a psycho, she was just slightly more observant than Maggie was, good to know. As Emily closed the door she kicked Erin and she finally seemed to get the hint.
"Hi Maggie, welcome to our room,"She said smiling slightly , she then turned to Sam, raising her eyebrow expectantly. Sam blinked than her mouth formed an o in recognition, she turned to Maggie,
"Hi, whats your name?"She smiled, not a thought behind those eyes, before Maggie could answer, she was met with two very hard facepalms from Erin and Emily,
"Sam her name is Maggie, she just said it and so did I" Erin sighed,
"Okay well I didn't hear it jeez," Sam yelled back, Emily took ahold of Maggie's shoulder, looked at her very solemnly,
"forgive her please the blonde has sunk into her brain,"she explained very serious like, but maggie was 67% sure she was joking, so going out on a limb, she laughed, and apparently that was the right thing to do because Emily cracked a smile and started laughing, she had this odd little cackle, kinda like a witch. Once they stopped, Maggie came to the conclusion that they had been bunked together before, so they probably all had assigned sleeping arrangements already, when she voiced her concerns Erin just asked where she put her stuff, she pointed to the top bunk on the left bunk bed,
"oh that's fine, non of us sleep in that one, Sam was the only one who ever wanted a top," Erin explained, although with an odd tone, Emily and Sam made weird eye contact, but Maggie didn't seem to notice. Maggie just nodded with a smile and walked over to sit up on her bed again, when she heard Sam pipe up again,
"Oh yeah? well maybe we should just ask Maggie what she thinks," Sam pouted, Erin threw her head back and groaned in frustration and Emily rolled her eyes, hard.
"Fine. She wants to carve and paint rocks."Emily bit out.
"Huh?"was the very intelligent response given back
"Thats totally not what I said...Okay it was, but with no context it sounds weird, okay so you know they collect phones? well they do sooo I thought we carve and paint rocks and we turn those in, while we get our real phones the entire time! I saw it on a show it will totally work!"Sam yapped energetically.
"Oh.Thats um...." Maggie started, trying to find the words to describe such plans, luckily Erin quickly came up with the perfect ones
"the dumbest plan anyones ever put out into the universe?" Erin finished, Sam frowned, opened her mouth, than closed it again than opened it once more and this time something came out,
"Your the dumbest plan anyone has ever put into the universe."Sam said loudly, with her head held high, it was clear she was proud of that one. Emily and Erin shared a look, like they were so very used to this, than they gave Maggie a look that clearly stated see what we have to put up with? Emily then glanced at her phone,
"Speaking of which, since we definitely aren't doing that, if we don't get going now we won't get them back in 2 weeks, soooo let's get going Seawolves."Emily anounced, the last part of that sentance hadn't made sense to Maggie but she let it go, figuring it was some sort of inside joke.
"it's gonna be so weird not having my phone," Maggie said sadly,
"it's okay, you'll get used to it," Sam said, even though she was clearly lying.
"It's whatever at this point."Erin sighed sadly , "it's what we get for going to Scholars."
