"Everyone showed courage. Though we knew that Aro's army was moving against us. Soon we would face the dark gifts of Jane. And worse, the paralysing vapour of her brother Alec who could rob you of sight, sound and touch."

___

Carlisle, Edward, Rosalie and Kiara had ending up taking a trip to Rosalie and Kiara's cabin, discussing in private about what they wanted to tell the others about the developments that he had discovered in her bloodstream. They'd already put their friends lives on the line by inviting them to stand with the Cullens on Renesmee's behalf but introducing a shapeshifter that had venom just existing in their bloodstream? That was something completely different.

Kiara was yet to tell the pack about the development too, knowing that it would leave them with more concern and worry than she wanted. She needed her pack to have a clear mind should they be faced with another vampire battle. They'd seen the results of what happened when you took your mind off the game for even a moment - Leah was moments away from being crushed, Jacob was crushed and Kiara was bitten. That wasn't something she wanted to go through again.

It had been decided: those that knew about Kiara's current predicament would keep it to themselves for a little bit longer. There was no concrete evidence that the Volturi were even aware of what was happening to her - and Alice would have surely told them if Kiara was needing to be protected like Renesmee.

Edward had finally revealed what she had seen after her vision of the Volturi coming, and Kiara wondered why he had shared it sooner. She'd been thinking Alice had seen her in grave danger, but rather it appeared that she had just seen Rosalie and Kiara attending someone else's wedding. It wasn't really that ground-breaking, except from the fact that it was the first time Alice had been able to see Kiara in a vision since she had shifted for the first time.

Maybe that was something of somewhat concern, but Kiara figured they had bigger issues to handle first. She'd tell the pack on her own time and as far as she was concerned, none of these new, red-eyed vampires needed to know her business.

Carlisle wasn't entirely as convinced as the other three, but after Edward left to check on Bella and Renesmee, a firm conversation with Rosalie had made him step down from wanting to inform the other vampires in Forks. She'd put forward a good argument - Kiara was HER mate, and the less people that knew her potential weaknesses, the better. Her protectiveness was almost feral in nature and the vampire matriarch knew better than to challenge that.

He'd never seen a bond quite like it.

Kiara leaned back against Rosalie's shoulder as the blonde wrapped her arm tightly around the shapeshifter's waist, pulling her imprint's back flush against the vampires front. The tanned girl smiled gently as Rosalie placed a soft kiss to her neck, ignoring the fake gag that Jacob made in their direction at the sight of his sister being affectionate.

He was joking, Kiara knew that. It was almost poetic in a sense. This time a year ago, Kiara wouldn't have thought it was a joke at all - not when she was almost killing herself to avoid being anywhere near Rosalie's magnetic pull. Now here they were, both imprinting on their natural born enemies and about to lead their packs into a battle they weren't sure they'd see the other side of.

A short look at Edward wiped the smile from her face. She couldn't help but almost feel guilty at the small moments she was enjoying while the man was spending every moment of his existence in fear that his newborn daughter was about to be taken from him by the Volturi. Newborn was an interesting term to use, since Renesmee was looking closer to ten years old than ten days.
