"alright, are y'all up for a little shop at the mall, later?" simone questioned, dylan immediately chimed in "shoot, i'm sorry, i can't. mom planned dinner later with the taddingtons" she sighed in sadness.

"it's okay, dyl" she patted her shoulder before looking at the others, "well, count me in" alana smiled, "yeah me too!" pepper smiled.

"i can't no one's gonna moniter owen he might finish all the snacks at home" taylor chuckles, followed by the rest of the girls.

"is he seriously still doing that?" dylan asked, she nodded, "what can i say, it's owen cooper" she shrugged.

they continued, the cafeteria filled up with people you can't even understand each other at this point because of all the noises, but little did they know the figure is still there, standing.. watching them still, he didn't leave yet, that's weird.

at hornburg residence.

as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, the hornburg household buzzed with activity. georgette and anthony, proud parents of dylan and her siblings, jasper, felix, and camille, were busy preparing for a dinner party with their old college friends, the taddingtons.

liza and chris taddington, accompanied by their children sam and kelsey, arrived promptly at the hornburgs' doorstep, greeted by warm smiles and hugs from their hosts. laughter filled the air as old memories were shared and new ones created.

"georgette, this spread looks absolutely divine," exclaimed liza, eyeing the array of dishes laid out on the dining table.

"thank you, liza. anthony and i wanted to make sure everyone felt right at home," replied georgette, beaming with pride.

as the adults reminisced about their college days, dylan's older brothers, jasper and felix, engaged in lively banter with sam taddington, while camille, the youngest of the hornburg siblings, entertained kelsey with tales of their adventures.

midway through the meal, sam leaned over to dylan, a sheepish grin playing on his lips. "sorry to interrupt, but could you point me in the direction of the bathroom?"

dylan nodded, gesturing for him to follow her. as they ascended the stairs, a comfortable silence settled between them, broken only by the faint sounds of laughter drifting up from the dining room below.

reaching her room, dylan rummaged through her belongings while sam lingered in the doorway, his gaze wandering around the unfamiliar surroundings. "nice room," he remarked, his eyes lingering on the posters adorning the walls.

"thanks," dylan replied, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. "feel free to come in while i grab something."

sam hesitated for a moment before stepping into the room, his curiosity getting the better of him. as they exchanged small talk, they found themselves drawn into a conversation that flowed effortlessly, each revelation forging a deeper connection between them.

suddenly, their conversation was interrupted by the sound of camille's voice echoing from the hallway outside. "dylan, who's this?" she asked, peeking her head around the doorframe.

dylan shot sam a nervous glance before plastering on a smile. "oh, this is sam. he's just a friend from downstairs."

camille eyed them suspiciously before grinning mischievously. "just a friend, huh? well, mom and dad are looking for you two. they want to take a group photo before dessert."

dylan and sam exchanged a knowing look before hastily making their way downstairs, the warmth of their newfound connection lingering in the air as they rejoined the festivities below. as they posed for the photo, their smiles were genuine, a silent promise of the adventures yet to come.
