"Yo weh yah straighten up ago?" my older brother, Demarco, asks turning everyone's attention to me and I glare over at him, "Mi tell yuh seh me, Nico and Nat ago pan the road" I answer and he jumps off the wall walking over to me.
"How yah reach and wah time yah come back?" he questions and I fold my arms across my chest, "Love gwan like yah mi father, daddy already know all a this" I sassed and he hisses his teeth.
"Suh true yuh feel like yah big woman now, mi cyah question yuh again?" he asks glaring at me and I pout, "Mi never seh that" I mumble and he hums.
"Yave money?" he then asks and my pout turns into a smile at the mention of that, "Yes but nothing nuh wrong with having more" I say holding my hand out and he laughs dipping into his pocket.
"Marco when yuh done deh suh Chapo a shout yuh up the road" one of his friends calls out to him and he nods, "Tell him me soon fawud" he says dropping five $5000 bills in my hand and I thank him.
"Make sure unuh take time pan the road and call me if nothing" he says and I nod as Nat walks through the gate.
"Evening bestie" she greeted pulling me into a hug before turning to shyly look up at my brother who was already staring down at her, "Natasia" his voice deepened and I watched the interaction in disgust.
I knew Nat had a crush on him but ain't no way he likes her back, "We a leave now, you nave yuh friend fi go do road wid" I say hooking my arm with Nat's going through the gate and he chuckles.
Passing the elders up by Prosperity, I greet them with a good evening before making my way further into the parking lot.
Glancing over at Chapo's car when Marco got over to where he was, our eyes made four and I quickly looked away.
Mi cyah understand how they've been best friends for years and he's been to the house multiple times but he still scared me. Maybe it's because I know the type of life he lived but one man shouldn't be that intimidating.
"Yuh take yuh sweet time sah" Nat says when Nico jumps out of his car and he laughs, "Mi late but mi reach" he says pulling her into a hug before glancing over at me.
"Still vex wid me?" he asks and I roll my eyes, "You know what you did" I frown and he pulls me into his arms.
"I'm sorry, how yuh wah mi make it up to yuh?" he asks kissing me on the temple and I think about it, "I want three bags of sour skittle and yah fi carry me go school fi a week" I bargain and he nods.
"Anything yuh want as long as yuh nuh vex wid me nuh more" he says and I smile, "Wah time yuh seh the thing a start?" he changes the topic pulling out his phone and the hairs of the back of my neck stood up.
Looking back over to where my brother was standing earlier, he was no longer there but making his way over to me with Chapo closely behind smoking a spliff.
"Yute make sure yuh bring them back safe eno and nuh bother wid the fuckry driving" Marco starts lecturing Nico but I could only focus on the way Chapo was staring me down.
Shifting awkwardly on my feet, my skin heats up the more he stares at me and he smirks, "Yah move suh shaky Ty?" he asks, speaking to me for the first time in years and I stumble over my words.
"Nothing just umm surprised to see you back in Ville" I manage to get out and his eyes roam over my outfit suddenly making me feel naked under his gaze.
"Nuh fi long but affi make sure mi streets safe" he says glaring at whoever was behind me and I nod as a shiver runs down my spine at the deadly look on his face.
"Come hurry up and gwan weh unuh go before it get too late" Marco says saving me from the way his best friend was looking at me and I thanked the heavens up above.
"Aye the man scary when him ready eno" Nat says once we're all in the car and I silently agree, "All the way him did a stare yuh dung Ty" she gushes and Nico hisses his teeth.
"Them man deh just a look somebody daughter fi toy wid then him toss them to the side" he says and as much I didn't want to agree it's true because I've seen the way my brother goes to work.
"Let's just enjoy ourselves and forget about what happened, it's the last night before school starts and we all become stressed out" I say dismissing the topic even though my mind kept going back to the way Chapo made me feel by the simple eye contact between us.
If it's a case he was going to be sticking around, I knew for a fact he was going to be nothing but trouble.
