Jade's POV

God I hate school.

Like, what is the purpose? I don't pay attention to the stupid teachers anyways.

I can faintly hear Mrs. Edwards babbling on about the Gettysburg Address.

I cannot wait to get out of here. Once I graduate I'm going off on my own.

"Ms. Young!"

I jump out of my thoughts and look at a not very happy Mrs. Edwards.

I sit there for a minute and see everyone looking at me.

"What?" I ask

"Pay attention!" She yells

Some people start snickering.

Mrs. Edwards goes back to explaining the Gettysburg Address.

"Dude, that's like, the third time this week she has had to yell at you." Kay whispers

She sits in front of me.

"Well sorry for not paying attention to the fricken Gettysburg Address!" I whisper "Didn't we go over this in like, the fifth grade?" I ask annoyed

"Not like this. Anyways, it's kind of interesting." Kay states quietly

"Kay, did I ever tell you that you're a nerd?" I ask

She just looks at me.

"Kay you're a nerd." I say

She rolls her eyes, whispers "Pay attention!" and then turns her attention back to Mrs. Edwards.

I begin to daydream again, then something hits me on the back of the head.

I turn around and look on the floor at the paper ball that hit me.

I look up to see Blake smirking at me.

I roll my eyes and turn around.

"Why is your brother such an-" Kay starts to say but is cut off by the bell.

I chuckle as we both get up and exit the classroom and start walking down the hallway.

"It's Blake. My brother. Do you really expect us to get along?" I ask

"No but he could at least be nicer." She says "He's mean."

"Well I'm mean right back." I say

"True."

"We fight. It's because we are brother and sister, Kay. Siblings don't get along." I say

"Yeah but they don't act like they hate each other ALL THE TIME!" She says

"We're just two completely different people. It's a wonder how we are even related." I state

"Well you two should actually try to get along sometime." She says

"Whatever." I say

"I'm just saying." She says as she throws her hands up in defense.

I shake my head.

"So, are you ready for the math test?" Kay asks, changing the subject

"Am I ever ready for a math test?" I ask

"No." She states

"Exactly."

She laughs and we walk to math class.
