(Quinn's POV)
Quinn woke up with a sharp pain in her forehead, her head pounding. All she wanted was to sleep, relax, and get some rest before heading to boarding school. But right on cue, there was a yell that filled the apartment: "We're late!" It was one of Quinn's old friends, with whom she had always been inseparable since childhood. Quinn checked the time and realised she was supposed to be there 45 minutes ago. (You must be wondering where she's going. She's on her way to MCCI Academy! Or, well, she's supposed to be.)
Quinn quickly rushed around, packing things at the last minute, stuffing the case with everything she could find. In a rush and panic, she left the apartment and dashed to the bus stop—only to find that she had missed the bus! The next one wasn't for another 9 hours! She had to run. After 2 more hours of running, she finally arrived. She saw the gates of MCCI Academy and walked through them. The school layout was confusing—the front entrance was at the back of the school, and the back entrance was on the 2nd floor? She was confused, trying to find her way inside, but finally managed to climb through a small window.
She hurried to find the location of her opening ceremony. Upon arrival, she saw three members of Noxcrew watching over the door. They didn't seem too pleased. Melissa looked livid, Lucy was just vibing on her phone and didn't even notice Quinn's arrival, but Bossite noticed her immediately and stood up.
"Quinn, it's been 3 hours. This isn't a great start at all. It seems the students have left due to the timing, except for one. She will monitor you and show you around."
Valaeris stood up and approached Quinn, not hiding her judgment. "Why are you dressed like that? First, it's tacky. Second, you're disgusting," she remarked, eyeing Quinn's sweaty appearance. Val then turned to face Bossite and Melissa. "I'm sorry, I have plans. I can't show them around." She brushed past Quinn and headed to the door.
Something about Valaeris' demeanor irked Quinn. Uncharacteristically, Quinn brushed it off and demanded to know Val's plans. Val had almost reached the door when she abruptly turned back to Quinn. "My plans are to make your life a living hell," she whispered softly. "Now back off if you know what's good for you." With that, Val swiftly exited the room, leaving Quinn alone with the staff.
Bossite turned to face Quinn after perusing his papers. His expression was stern and annoyed, a clear reflection of Quinn's tardiness. "Quinn, we typically follow a structured housing process, but due to your tardiness, Mel will provide you with a quick overview."
Mel glanced up at Quinn. "It's quite straightforward; the system isn't difficult to grasp. The Red Rabbits reside in the green house, the Cyan Coyotes in the red house, the Purple Pandas in the blue house, and the Pink in the Yellow house. Understand?"
Quinn was taken aback; none of the information seemed to register. She nodded along, feigning comprehension. Mel then informed her that she belonged to the Cyan house. Quinn didn't mind and proceeded with her day. It took her four hours to locate the Cyan house because it was red.
"Also you have to join the Cheer club," Mel said, and then Quinn left for the day.
(One day timeskip)
The following day, Quinn woke up at 2 pm, missing all her classes except for Sands Of Time. On her way to class, she glanced out the window and observed Kubo and Lucky throwing phexi onto the ground. Deciding it wasn't her concern, she continued to class. However, upon reaching the classroom door, she found it locked. The moment Mel heard the door, she swung it open, exclaiming, "Quinn! This is your first and last time being late to my class. If it happens again, you're finished. Find a seat."
Clearly irritated by Quinn's interruption, Mel's annoyance was palpable. Quinn located a seat beside Lynrose, attempting to engage in small talk, only to have Lynrose respond by launching a pencil in her direction. "Shut up!" her New Zealand accent intensified with annoyance. Quinn remained silent, listening as Mel explained the importance of care and responsibility on the gold path.
Twenty minutes later, the class came to an end, and Quinn hurriedly departed, inadvertently jostling past a few individuals in her haste to leave. She couldn't quite comprehend how it happened—moments ago, she was feeling shy and irritated, and suddenly she found herself engaging with Jojoslices, Kressere, and Beehavior. It all began innocently with some casual introductions before swiftly transitioning into discussions about leaping off the parkour building with the ace race elytras.
