The castle walls were overflowing with many different kinds of people as it was a day to behold of celebration. It was the young prince Arthurs birthday and many had come from afar to bring the prince gifts but not all of them held such good intentions.
The day was young and the sun which beamed molten gold into the sky starting the day for young Merlin, Arthurs man servant, who already had a long list of chores for the day. Merlin golfed down his breakfast which was an assortment of different berries and a slice of bread to keep him energised for the start of his day then made his way over to Arthurs chambers. Gaius didn't even get to warn the boy to be careful about his day but figured Merlin already knew better by now or at least he had hoped so.
Prince Arthur was awoken by his curtains being yanked open and being blinded by the gleaming sun. As he sighed and rubbed his eyes he greeted Merlin by throwing a pillow in his direction and slumping back down in his bed. He took a good look at his man servant who's body was slim from malnourishment, brown messy hair, with a grin bloomed with happiness plastered to his face.
"Happy birthday sire, you have a busy day today so best to get up and going." Merlin said to the young prince who was already looking fed up with the cheerful boy.
Arthur stretched his arms and got out of bed to let his manservant start dressing him. Every morning as the boy dresses the prince Merlin cant help but stare at his body. Arthur had a nice toned body and strong muscles from his knight training which keeps him in shape. Arthur always notices Merlin staring but does not say anything in case he is misreading the situation at hand.
"Merlin how do you manage being so annoying at this early of the day." the blonde chuckled as he finished dressing and peered out of his window to see the celebration antics already being to be prepped for.
Out in the courtyard there were jesters and jugglers and many esteemed guests coming in from their travels to perform for Arthur and be there for the big royal feast. Arthur wasn't easily impressed so everyone would be putting in all the effort to entertain the young prince and it wasn't so easy since there was no usage of magic allowed.
It was time for the big feast filled with many meats from all kinds of animals king Uther had the kitchen prepare for the big day along with the richest of wines being poured for all the guests in camelot crested goblets. King Uther was at one head of the table accompanied by his ward the lady Morgana and her servant Gwen. Morgana was dressed in a beautiful velvet purple and blue dress with golden accessories and Gwen a simple green dress. There were guards and knights stationed everywhere around the room to ensure the safety of the Pendragons if any attack was to take place.
Prince Arthur was dressed in his best clothes with Camelots crest embroidered onto his cape. Arthur was watching all the entertainment that was planned out for him for that day. There was fire breathing tricks, acrobats, jugglers, and tricksters all seeming to take the breath away from the crowd and amuse them all with their performances. Merlin was stood besides Arthur on wine pouring duties but was entranced by the wondrous performances with a child like enjoyment and couldn't help himself from grinning and the activities. Arthur looked to his side at his smiling manservant and admired his enjoyment that encased the boy.
"Y'know Merlin you seem to enjoying it more than me and I'm the one they're supposed to be impressing." Arthur laughed as he slapped Merlin jokingly on the arm.
Merlin grinned and was about to reply with a smart ass remark but was interrupted by an announcement of a grand performance for the specialty of the prince. The performer started chanting some words in a yell and his eyes turning a golden yellow then suddenly everyone was turned to stone.
Everyone except Prince Arthur and Merlin.
