It had been almost a week since Arabella had her panic attack, and she was still thinking if she wanted to ask Alex to help her with her magic. She went to find him in their usual meeting spot. The training room. Arabella wanted to think things over while beating someone in a competition. That was always the best time to think in her opinion.

When she got to the training room, she saw both Alex and Ares standing there laughing over a joke that was lost to her. "What are you guys laughing about?" Arabella tried to join the conversation, but right after she said that, Ares' face went back to its normal, cold expression.

"Nothing, but I do have a mission for you two." Ares said as he cleared his throat. This made Arabella intrigued. She hadn't been on a mission in months. "I need the two of you to take the four jewels at the Guardians headquarters. They will revolutionize the future of Typhon."

The Guardians were the other side. Ares never said the "good" side because he thought that they were the bad ones. However, Arabella thought otherwise. She knew what Typhon was doing, including brainwashing their agents.

"So, you will have to sneek into The Guardians headquarters and steel the jewels. Do whatever you need to do in order to get them. If you ha e to leave the other, then so be it."

Even though Ares had said 'you two', it hadn't occurred to Arabella that she would be doing the mission with Alex until now. She hated doing missions with other people. "And since Alex knows that you have powers, you both can use yours together."

"So, just to recap. We have to sneek into The Guardians' headquarters, steal some jewels, fight some under-trained agents, and get out. Do I have it right?" Alex asked. Ares nodded and chuckled. "You know, you kind of funny, you know that?" Ares said cheerfully. Ares was never cheerful. He never complemented people, and he definitely never complemented Arabella.

"So all we have to do is -" She started to talk, but Ares cut her off. "Did you not hear what Alex just said?! Now, I need you two to work as a team, so Mist, that means you will do the work. Got it."

"What! In what world is that a team?!" Arabella was starting to get irritated with Ares. He seemed to like Alex more than her, and they had just met. Not only that, but he wanted her to do the work and for both her and Alex to share the credit.

"Well...what are you two waiting for? Chop chop! Oh, and Mist, cut out the attitude."

Arabella and Alex silently crept into the Guardians' headquarters. It was rather roomy, much more spacious than Typhons headquarters. The door to the room that the jewels were in was on the other side of the room, so they tiptoed over the door. Once they got there unnoticed, Alex started whispering "Ladies first." Arabella just rolled her eyes "Is the Fire King scared?" She said in a mocking tone. He responded with, "Well, I don't want to go in first. If you fail, someone has to get you out."

"Same goes for you!" They continued whisper fighting for a while until Arabella finally said. "Fine! I'll go first! But you're first next time." She opened the door slowly and walked in.

Inside, the room was empty, except for a few glowing glass cases that held the jewels. This isn't right; there must be more protecting these. Alex started walking towards the cases. "Wait." He slowly turned around and said, "What? The Guardians obviously don't protect these enough, so just take the freebee and let's get out" Arabella shook her head and backed away, out of the doorway. Alex scoffed when she backed up and continued walking.

Good thing she did because as soon as Alex touched the glass, alarms went off, and footsteps approached Arabella from behind. "Back away from the jewels" a Guardian agent said in a threatening tone. Her back was facing the agent, so before they could do anything to her, she threw them over her shoulder, and they hit the ground. Hard. As soon as she made sure the agent was unconscious, she looked around and grabbed the closest thing to her. She quickly made her way over to the glass case and smashed it.

Now, they had a clear view of the jewels. There were four. Each one had a different color and something surrounding it. The green one was covered in dirt. The white one was surrounded in a small forcefield that looked like it was made of wind. There was a red one that had a ring of fire surrounding it, and there was a blue one that had water droplets floating around it.

Arabella tried to grab the red one but took her hand away almost immediately. Alex tried next, and he picked it up without a second of hesitation. Alex tried to pick up the blue one next, but as soon as his hand closed around it, he took it off. This time, it was Arabella who picked it up, and instead of taking her hand away, she closed her fingers around the gem and picked it up.

They heard more footsteps coming, and since they had no interest in another fight, so they ran, completely forgetting about the other jewels.
Arabella was clearing the way by pushing people out of their path with her magic. "Hey! Any chance you could move us with your water instead of them" Alex yelled, trying to be heard over the alarms. "Funny of you telling me what to do, that's normally Ares job. But I can try." She stopped running and focused all her energy on her magic. Water started coming out of her hands and spilled onto the floor.

Once there was enough water, she made it surround Alex first and then her, and she made sure that she kept their heads out of the water. Arabella moved her hands in a way that made the water speed past people in the halls.

Alex and Arabella made it out of the Guardians' base in seconds, and as soon as they were out, Arabella dropped her hands, and the water fell to the ground. "Jeez Mist, you could have kept me at least a little dry." Alex spoke. She rolled her eyes and spoke. "You had an air bubble. I did my best. I haven't done that in almost a year. Be grateful that I got us out of that in the first place."

"Well, your 'air bubble' had a leek" Alex was trying to come up with anything she did wrong, and that was the first thing that came to mind. "I'm not perfect!" She responded.

They got back to Typhons base rather late, and Ares was waiting on them. Per usual.

"Well, come on, show me the jewels." Ares said. Arabella took out the two gems. Ares looked at them and then looked up at her. "Where are the other two." It was hardly a question. He already knew that they had left them there.

"Well, Ares, we were in a bit of a situation. Mist got us out, and we did get two out of four. That's good, right?" Alex said. Ares nodded and then looked at Arabella. "So it is your fault? You could have left him there and gotten all four." How did he come to that conclusion?! Arabella thought. I could've, yes. But I didn't. I saved your favorite person.

After that, Ares gave Alex and Arabella their cut of the money. Alex got $20, and Arabella got $10. She was starting to get really irritated with both Ares and Alex.

"Hey, Mist. I had a feeling that you were mad at me the whole mission. Is that true?"

"Wherever did you get that idea?" She rolled her eyes and walked away. Not bothering to answer his question.
