Alter pov

Alter awoke to a strange fishy smell.

"Ughhh what the hell is that noise" Alter whispered to themselves.

Alter rolled over and saw a seawing, (what was his name? Shrimp?). They were doing something with some large metal box.

"What are you doing?" Alter asked.

The seawing jumped at the sudden noise.

"Ah fuck you scared me!" Shrimp said, "I almost forgot you were here!"

"Fair, anyways what are you doing?" Alter asked again.

"Oh I'm makin' fried shrimp!" Shrimp responded, "I was hoping I could use it to make some money to hopefully fix this place up!"

The smell of fried shrimp hit Alter's nostrils like a brick. The entire hut smelled amazing.

"Wow, that smells really good! Why didn't you sell this stuff in the sea kingdom so you could actually get shrimp for it?" Alter asked.

"Uhhhhhhhhhh..." Shrimp stuttered, "leeeeets not talk about that..."

Alter blinked.

"What did you do?" Alter asked, concerned.

"Uhmmm... i mayyyy have..." Shrimp awkwardly covered themselves with their wings, "blownupthesummerpalacewhiletryingtofrysomeshrimpandgotbanishedforit"

"...what" Alter responded.

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT I SWEAR" Shrimp said.

"I didn't know other tribes did the whole banishing thing?" Alter responded, "i thought everyone else just moved on to the death penalty"

"Yeah, I got lucky though" Shrimp responded, "the queen liked my cooking enough that she lessened the punishment to just a banishment"

"You convinced her not to kill you by cooking?" Alter said.

"I mean, I was one of the royal chefs up until like... yesterday" Shrimp responded.

"Huh... neat." Alter responded, "anyways I'm heading into town to look for some random stuff to put in here. Do you wanna come?"

"No thanks, I'm busy SHKRUMPING" Shrimp said.

"...ok" Alter said.

Alter walked out the door, or at least she would've if she didn't notice the bag right next to it. Did the previous owners leave this here?

Alter opened the bag and looked inside. There were only two things in the bag, a scroll and a portrait of two seawings, one being a dragonet.

Alter examined the scroll, seeing it was some anatomy scroll? She opened it up only to get jumpscared by a massive mudwing shlong. Yeah she was leaving now.

It had been a few hours since shrimp started working on the freid shrimp. Fried shrimp always took pretty long for Shrimp. Most of the time was waiting for the oil to heat up. It wasn't necessarily a hard process, more annoyingly long.

He sat down by the fryer, letting his mind wander. Usually he'd have other things to prepare, but he didn't really have access to any other cooking utensils or any other ingredients.

This was when it actually hit him what situation he was in. He was basically starting again at square one, in a completely different kingdom no less. W
hat would his dad think of what he had done?

The only dragon he knew outside the sea kingdom so far was Alter.

He immediately blushed at the thought of her.

"FUCK" Shrimp exclaimed to himself, "Holy carp I have a crush on that slag don't I"

"A crush on who?" A voice said from behind Shrimp.

Alter had been standing behind shrimp for who knows how long.

"NO ONE YEP INDEED UHUH" Shrimp said, before covering himself with his wings.

"Oh cod she's on to me and she's gonna think I'm weird and shit and it's gonna be terrible-" Shrimp's thoughts rambled on.

"I think I know who it might be~" Alter said, Shrimp was basically in a fetal position on the ground at this point.

"Shrimp do you have a crush on me?" Alter asked.

"Maybe?" Shrimp whispered in a defeated voice.

Alter let out a chuckle at this.

"I couldn't even make it half a day without her catching on! She's gonna kick me out and I'll have nowhere to stay!" Shrimp thought frantically.

"Good to know you feel the same way!" Alter said, before laying down next to the seawing. Alter nuzzled her snout into where Shrimp's face would be if it wasn't covered by a wing. Shrimp lifted his wing in response.

"Wait you're being serious?" Shrimp asked.

"Uh yeah, do I need to tell you in a less serious way?" Alter asked.

"...no this works" Shrip responded, clearly enjoying his current situation.

They both played in silence for a little while, simply enjoying the moment.

"So uh... what are we supposed to do now? I never got this far" Shrimp asked.

"I mean we could go on a date tommorow or something?" Alter responded, "if it's okay with you of course."

"I'd like that" Shrimp responded, "where would we go though?"

"There was this one place I saw while nightwing was looking around in the mudwing city. It was called Bob Evans I think?" Alter said.

"I'd be willing to try that" Shrimp said.

"Alright, we'll go there tommorow morning!" Alter responded.

Shrimp decided the frying could wait until later. He extinguished the fire beneath the vat of oil.

Shrimp genuinely didn't know how he managed to actually be attractive.
