As you walked towards the tower, hands jammed firmly in your pockets so your sweaty palms were hidden, you heavily debated turning round. You weren't even sure why you were here, one minute you're at a bar too drunk to even recognise the guy you're making out with, and the next he's saying you'd be a good fit for this team he's a part of. What team he was on about you didn't even know, he just gave you an address and walked off. The only reason you were here is because he said it paid good money and due to your current status of being unemployed, anything was better than nothing right?

A car horn blares and snaps you out of your flashback to the previous Friday, as you realised you'd stopped in the middle of the road, forcing you to do a weird little jog that made you cringe at the thought of what you looked like. You kept walking, knowing you vaguely recognised the guy from the bar but couldn't for the life of you place your finger on it. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary however, ever since your ex girlfriend broke up with you because you were 'too comfortable in being gay' and she 'wasn't ready to come out yet' just to come out because some other ratty girl only 2 months later, every friday, or recently every other day, you went to the bar and got shitfaced, usually hooking with a stranger here and there, always making sure you were drunk enough to barely remember what they looked like so as to avoid any possible regrets the next day.

Enough stalling you thought to yourself as you finally reached the address the guy had given you, you lifted your hand to ring the bell but you could even get there, the door swung open, revealing none other than Tony stark, mr ironman himself. Your jaw dropped, certain you got the wrong place, wanting the ground to swallow you up because you couldn't even breathe and were most definitely making a fool of yourself in front of one of the richest, most powerful men in the country. His voice snapped you awake, "you must be Alex". If there was any chance of you closing your mouth, it was over now, you couldn't quite believe that the team you had a chance of joining was the Avengers. Tony cleared his throat, as you realised he was probably waiting for a response 'yes sir that's me sir' god you thought, I sound like an idiot. 'Follow me' he said quickly and walked away, you following behind him questioning how the fuck you got yourself into this situation. As you walked, you tried to gain some composure, drying your hands on your jeans and standing tall, trying to regain some of your normal cocky self.

Eventually you reached a massive set of double doors, but before opening them Tony turned round, staring you dead in the eyes. "Steve tells me you can fight and read minds'" Before you could stop yourself, you came out with "who the fuck is steve and how does he know this stuff" quickly following up with "sorry probably could've worded that a little better" but to your surprise, and relief, Tony chuckled and said "steve warned me you probably wouldn't remember much" still not answering your question on who this steve bloke was he opened the doors. It opened into a long room, with a round table in the centre, 2 men were sitting round it, one of whom you recognised as the guy whose face you sucked off, finally putting two and two together you realised this must be Steve. You groaned to yourself internally kicking yourself for revealing your supposed to be well kept secret power. The other man stood up, Tony introduced him as Nick Fury, who walked over to you and shook your hand firmly. "Right then, miss Alex.." he trailed off indicating for you to finish it "Mikhailov" you responded which gained looks of surprise from the three men.

"Russian" they all said at once "wow you guys are quite the detectives aren't you" you commented back slightly annoyed at how they figured it out so fast. "Forgive me for being so surprised" said Fury, it's just that you have such a strong British accent. "That would be because i moved to England when i was 14 and only moved to America last year. I've had time to get the accent away." you said, answering his question. "Well" Tony said, breaking the silence, guess id better see if steve bigged you up or not, come and shown me if you can actually fight" he turned around opening the doors before steve said your name "Alex wait, Fury, don't you think we should actually test if she can mind read" "hmm i suppose so" fury responded. You watched as steve got closer to you as you thought about how he really wasn't your type and how you must have been blacked out on Friday. "What am I thinking about?"  Steve asked, you smirked doing as he said and reading his mind, you saw flashbacks to your kiss with him, and how hot he thought you were when you drank his favourite beer. You chucked to yourself quietly before saying "you're thinking about your favourite beer, and also me, but i have to warn you, i'm more into girls, you were just a one time thing" you heard a laugh come from behind you, which you could only assume came from Tony as Steve stepped back , looking a little hurt but also slightly impressed. "Yeah she has the power alright" "good" hummed Fury, "Tony go and test her combat skills".
