At the Autobot base in Detroit on Earth, Optimus Prime had been teaching his new Autobot apprentice, Orion Eclipse, how to fight and how to defend himself. Optimus had taught Orion Eclipse everything he wanted to know about Cybertron, about the Allspark, the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron, Blackarachnia, the Dinobots, the Matrix of Leadership, the Elite Guard, the Autobot Supreme Commander, Ultra Magnus, and the Magnus Hammer, and why Optimus Prime needs to use it since he's next in line to take Ultra Magnus as the new Autobot Supreme Commander, as Cybertron's new ruler and Magnus.

Of course, Optimus Prime won't become Optimus Magnus and become the new leader of Cybertron and the Autobots until he's defeated Megatron once and for all. Optimus Prime explained to Orion Eclipse how Ultra Magnus was mortally wounded by a Decepticon and how he has chosen Optimus Prime to become the next Magnus instead of Sentinel Prime, who got demoted and was no longer part of the Elite Guard because of his arrogance, his pride, his thirst for power, and his jealousy over Optimus Prime being chosen by Ultra Magnus to be his permanent successor instead of Sentinel Prime.

Optimus Prime recounted to Orion Eclipse an eventful occurrence from mere days ago: the escape of Megatron from Autobot custody, leading to his return to Earth alongside his Decepticon cohorts, commandeering the formidable Trypticon Prison city-ship. Amidst the chaos, Optimus Prime rushed to the infirmary to assess Ultra Magnus's condition, finding solace in his continued survival.

In light of these developments, Optimus Prime made strategic decisions to safeguard Cybertron's interests. He appointed Rodimus Prime as the interim leader of the Autobot Elite Guard, entrusting him with the responsibility of maintaining order and protecting Cybertron during Optimus's impending absence. With a resolute determination, Optimus Prime resolved to return to Earth to settle unfinished business, primarily the eradication of Megatron and his malevolent ambitions once and for all.

The overarching objective was clear: thwart Megatron's designs to claim the title of Magnus and seize control of Cybertron's destiny. Optimus Prime's unwavering commitment to this cause underscored his leadership and the gravity of the impending conflict. Orion Eclipse, ever inquisitive, turned to Optimus Prime with a burning question lingering in his spark. "Will you become Optimus Magnus once Megatron is vanquished? Will you ascend to lead the Autobots and govern Cybertron?"

Optimus Prime regarded Orion Eclipse with a mixture of solemnity and resolve. "Becoming a leader of an entire planet is a monumental responsibility, one that cannot be taken lightly," he explained. "It's not just about defeating Megatron; it's about ensuring the safety and prosperity of all Autobots and inhabitants of Cybertron."

He continued, his voice carrying the weight of the impending decision. "Alpha Trion and the Autobot High Council have granted me the liberty to take as much time as necessary to address the threat posed by Megatron to Earth. They understand the magnitude of this task and the sacrifices it entails. Before assuming the mantle of Optimus Magnus, I must first fulfill my duty to protect Earth and its people from harm."
