Wonwoo knew that life was far from perfect. Growing up in the poorest part of town, he learned early that survival meant juggling multiple jobs and scraping by on the little he earned. His family was at the lowest rung of the social hierarchy, living in a world where money ruled and those without it were treated as little more than dirt. Being the eldest of five, Wonwoo bore the responsibility of providing for his siblings, and he felt the weight of that burden every single day.
Despite the hardship, Wonwoo was determined to make things work for his family. He was used to the condescending stares of rich people, the whispered insults as they passed him on the street. But his resolve was tested to its limit when his younger brother, fell seriously ill. The doctors said that his brother needed surgery to save his life, and the cost was more than Wonwoo could ever hope to earn, even with his three jobs combined.
Desperate and running out of time, Wonwoo turned to his friend, who worked in a shadowy organization that operated on the fringes of society. Wonwoo didn't want to get involved, but his brother's life was at stake, and he was willing to do whatever it took.
Don Quixote was known for his short temper and brutal methods. His face was always hidden behind a mask, adding to the mystery and fear surrounding him. He rarely spoke, but when he did, his words carried an edge that could cut steel. Wonwoo was given a simple yet dangerous mission: infiltrate Don Quixote's house and steal an important document, one that could bring down the entire criminal empire and potentially end the chaos that had plagued the town for decades.
To get close to the documents, Wonwoo took a job as a cleaner in Don Quixote's mansion. It was a dangerous game, as one wrong move could cost him his life. But as he worked in the mansion, he found that Don Quixote—who he later discovered was named Kim Mingyu—wasn't quite the monster everyone thought he was. Mingyu showed him kindness, treating him with a respect that Wonwoo had never experienced before. It was a stark contrast to the reputation that preceded him, and Wonwoo couldn't help but feel a growing attraction to the man who was supposed to be his enemy.
As Wonwoo spent more time in the mansion, he uncovered hidden secrets about the town's history, his own family's connections to Don Quixote's lineage, and the brutal legacy that Mingyu was trying to escape. Mingyu confided in Wonwoo that he didn't want to carry on the family's dark tradition, but his family's influence and power left him little choice.
But their budding relationship came crashing down when one of Mingyu's ruthless relatives discovered that Wonwoo was a spy and part of a family that the Don Quixote clan despised. Wonwoo was captured, beaten, and left to rot in a dark room, the secret he had been tasked with stealing now seemingly out of reach.
When Mingyu found out, he was furious—not just at his family for their brutality, but at himself for allowing Wonwoo to be put in danger. Mingyu's anger reached a boiling point, and he knew he had to make a choice: continue down the violent path his family had set for him, or break free and put an end to the chaos once and for all.
Mingyu decided to turn against his own family, knowing that it was the only way to save Wonwoo and, in the process, bring peace to the town. With a fierce determination, risking everything to rescue Wonwoo and bring an end to the family legacy of violence and control. In doing so, Mingyu not only saved the man he loved, but also paved the way for a new beginning—one where he and Wonwoo could build a life together, free from the darkness of the past.
