"I don't want to go shopping."
Silence met with Bloom's gripe allowing, the statement to echo. It pinged off the blushing pink walls of the concave room until it settled on Flora. The other fairie's pointed ears twitched as she stood across from Bloom. Her back to her friend Flora continued to sift through the clothing rack in front of her.
Bloom watched as her friend said nothing. The other girl was too engrossed with the fabric in front of her to speak. The long golden dusted fingers traced down a seam on a sheer piece of cloth. The wrinkles in the clothing releasing to make soft swishing noises.
Brow crinkled Bloom breathed in. The smell of rose perfumes and formaldehyde mixed to create a burning sensation in her nose. This added an edge as she spoke up again.
"I don't want to go shopping."
The grumble added to her voice indicated a need for acknowledgment. An acknowledgment that poor corned Flora had to contend with.
Cornered and punished for being the only person not towards the back of the shop, Flora sighed. She dropped her hand and twirled on the heel of her pink wedge. Her brass locks flickered in the filtered sunlight from the shop window behind her.
Now fully facing a sulking Bloom Flora placed her right hand on her hip. She stared down the larger girl, who was lounging on a velvet rose chaise. The furniture was too small for her body, so a leg and an arm hung off while her other hand clutched the back of the chaise. This left a small claw-like indent from her nails in the chaise fabric.
"You do realize you are already in the shop right?" Flora asked, cocking her hip.
"I was tricked," Bloom responded in a sullen tone.
Flora shrugged, "be better at knowing where your pretend girlfriend is."
Bloom scowled as she dropped her other foot, so she was now sitting on the chaise instead of lounging. Her worn work boot landed on the white carpet with a soft thump. This shifted her cuffed jeans and black muscle tank to reveal the scarred surface of her stomach. Her continued movement sent her head flopping back so that a puff of her hair covered a part of her face.
Flora rolled her eyes in a playful gesture at the drama. Her ears twitched once more as the soft thuds of one of her friends came closer. She looked over the hulking mass to see Stella come in from the back of the shop. Their eyes met, and Stella smiled. Her pointed ears twitched beneath the golden ombre twists that fanned down her back.
A warmth spread through her chest at the acknowledgment. A warmth that tinged her bronze cheeks pink. Hot and somewhat bothered she went back to looking at clothes. She needed to refocus on the mission of the shopping trip. To get ready for Stella's engagement ceremony.
The "mission" had been introduced this morning. Stella had sauntered out to the common space while the rest of the winx lounged in their pajamas. She came in looked at her friends and announced they would be going shopping today. They were all in dire need of appropriate outfits for her engagement party. At least according to Stella.
Bloom was the first to object. Then for a solid ten minutes, the rest of the Winx watched Stella argue with Bloom. It would have lasted longer if Techna had not found Icy's latest post. And "coincidentally" the location was where they would need to go shopping.
It took Bloom under ten minutes to get ready to leave.
"Did you ever think, maybe you wouldn't be bored if you actually looked around the shop," Stella replied. Her hand gestured to the pink pastel room that was the boutique, nearly knocking over a stand of flowers. "Instead of just picking out the first tux you saw."
