Harry's POV
Everyone wants someone dead. But not everyone dares to do it themselves. That's why they call me. I'll gladly do it, for the right amount of money. I am one of Crystal Cove's most talented hitmen.
Obviously, I am very good at my job since I haven't been caught or even suspected of. But, there is someone who might even be better than me.
When I first heard about Davina Flores, I had no idea who she was. Some research was needed and when I heard about all the people she had killed without leaving a trace. Except for her famous upside-down cross and "P", I was impressed.
But, I didn't know what was this person's motive for having her gone. I don't ask questions. I do the job and collect my money.
But, from the moment I was assigned to her, I needed her. In ways, I don't even know. She has taken over my mind. Every aspect of her. from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet. When I first found her in the library, and even when I saw her again at the party, we connected so well.
The way her lips move, how she places a blunt in between them, how she looks when she walks away from me, her scent. I knew this was going to be difficult for me. I have never felt this way about someone who I was supposed to kill.
After I left the party, I headed over to a club across town. The night was young and I wanted a new change of scenery. As i walked in, alcohol with a mix of must filled my nose. The music was loud and colorful lights were going off in the dark room. I made my way to the bar and asked for their strongest drink. As I waited for it, a cute brunette sat next to me.
"Rough night?" she inquires.
"Didn't know wanting a drink meant I had a rough night" I smirk in her direction. She laughs and moves herself so she is fully facing me.
"You're cute, what's your name?"
"Harry" as i answer, my drink comes and I take a sip. She just stares at me and licks her lips.
"Ya' know, staring is rude. So is not giving me your name after I gave you mine" She reaches for my drink, sips it, and takes my hand to drag me onto the dance floor.
I follow her lead and before I know it, her back is pressed up against me and my hands are roaming her front. Our bodies move to the beat of the music and the drugs in my system make this a hundred times better.
I grab her hips and turn her to face me. My hands find the back of her neck and pull her into a kiss. I'm not looking for anything, but she doesn't need to know that.
The mystery lady pulls back from our heated kiss and whispers in my ear the name "Rose". I smirk at her and give her one more kiss.
"Why don't we go somewhere a little more private?" she questions as one of her eyebrows raises at me.
"I think that is a great idea" I answer
We find our way outside of the bar and she follows me down the street. Comfortable silence falls in between us and we just walk. I assume she thinks I am taking her back to mine, but oh how she is so wrong. I turn into a dark ally and she follows close behind. It's around 3 in the morning and no one is walking around besides us.
Once we reach the middle of the ally, I spin around to face her and grab her face. She gasps but I cover it with another kiss. We walk backward until she is pressed up against the wall and I wrap my hand around her throat. A moan slips out from her mouth into mine and I tighten my grip.
But, it doesn't stop there. I continue to tighten my grip on her neck and soon her hands are wrapped around mine trying to pry them off. I pull back from the kiss and just stare into her pleading eyes.
"Please, please don't do this" Rose manages to cough up.
"I'm sorry love, maybe this will teach you not to follow a stranger home". Once I finish speaking, I can see the life being drained from her. Her body soon goes limp in my embrace and I throw her over my shoulder.
The streets are empty as I walk through them and make my way back to my apartment. I figured to just place her there for now and deal with it tomorrow.
To get to my apartment, I have to pass by this abandoned area under a highway. No one ever really goes here besides a few homeless people, but who are they to care about what I am doing?
But to my surprise, I see two figures under the highway. One of them looks like a female who does not look homeless in the slightest, so I place Rose's body down behind a couple of bushes and head down. I can see the lady smoking and I can't make out who the other person is. They seem to be lying down.
Leaves crunch under my feet and it seems to startle the lady but she shoots up to look who is approaching. To my utter and complete shock, it was her. And by her, I mean Davina.
"Hey Dove" I speak up.
I can't make out her facial expression. Was it shock? Fear? Guilt? I continue to walk closer to her and she is stiff as a stick.
"Are you okay?" I ask. Something seems to snap in her and she walks up to me and pushes me backwards.
"You cannot be here right now Harry" Her voice is low and dark.
I am confused and look past her at the body lying on the floor. From the light of the moon, I can see it is a man. But he seems to be covered in blood. I am even more confused and push her out of my way.
Making my way up to the body, the smell and view of blood attack my senses. Davina stays behind and doesn't say anything to me. My mind is running with questions and concerns.
"What happened?" Without turning around I ask.
"Why do you care? Aren't you going to turn me in or something?" Her voice sounds back to her old self. I laugh. All I can do is laugh at this moment.
"What the fuck are you laughing at weirdo" Turning around, I notice she is closer to me than she was when I first left her. "You don't even know who I am," I say. Now it is her turn to be confused and I step closer to her. Davina stands strong, but deep down I know she is scared.
"How about you go home, love? Let me take care of this". She opened her mouth to say something, but I covered it with my hand. "It's not up for debate, go home. It is late".
She slowly nods her head and turns around to head home. I watch her as she makes her way back to the main road, and she walks past the bush where I had previously laid Roses's body. Davina doesn't react so I assume she didn't notice her.
Bringing my attention to the lifeless man who lies in front of me, I sigh. Cleaning up a body was not on my bucket list for today, let alone two. I pull my phone out of my pocket and decide to call up a few friends. I knew this wasn't a job I could do alone, plus it needed to be done now. Not when the sun came up and the streets filled up with people. After a few rings, my friend picks up.
"What Harry? It is three in the fucking morning".
"Good morning to you sweet pea. I need some help. I'm under the bridge. Meet me as soon as you can". A loud sigh comes from the other end of the call and all I get is a simple "ok".
Nick was and is someone I could always rely on. I take a seat on the floor and wait for him to show up. My head finds itself in between my hands and all I could think about how fucked I was.
Why am I doing this? Helping her. I mean, I am supposed to be killing her. But every time I look into her eyes, I get caught in a spell.
What are you doing to me, Davina Flores?
