Advaith had come with his sister and father to her in-laws' house. They were about to enter when he got a call from his professor and had to take it. After ending the call he moved towards the living room and could hear the voices coming in. He entered the room with a smile. "I am sorry.. vo....." saying that much he trailed off.He left the sentence incomplete as his eyes landed on the face of a young girl sitting beside his sister and looking at him. He forgot to breathe for a moment as he saw her. He couldn't believe his eyes and the world cease to exit around him. He saw her slowly approaching him until she stood directly in front him. He carefully raised his hand to her cheek to caress it, as if afraid she would disappear.
"Rooh" he softly whispered, as if in a trance, and saw her moist eyes looking at him. Those hazel brown eyes that had him entrapped. "Adi" the girl softly called out. And that brought him back to his senses. "Ruhi!!!" He exclaimed and pulled her into a tight hug, and felt her wrapping her arms around his torso tightly. He still couldn't believe that she was there, in his arms.
The moment Anika was engulfed by him, she couldn't control herself anymore and silently cried. She had missed his warmth, his presence and his hugs a lot; after all he was her peace, her sanity, her shield, her best friend and sounding board, during the years she was alone.
All the emotions and memories that she had been trying to supress and get over came back in full force. Adi felt his kurta getting wet and could detect the slight tremors in her body. His eyes had turned bloodshot and a few tears escaped before he controlled himself. He slowly detached himself and looked at Ruhi, who's eyes had turned red and tears were
streaming down her face.Avi, Aru and Maan were watching the whole exchange with their jaws dropped. The scene in front of them was too surreal to watch. Gayatri was also in shock, and many things were going in her mind. Rudra was staring at both of them with complicated emotion. Everyone could see their equation with each other, and somewhere the biys felt jealous of it. Akash and Abhira had tears in their eyes, but were smiling a little. They both knew how close they were to each other.
When Anika looked up at him, she saw him smiling at her. And that was it. The next moment her eyes were blazing with anger and Adi took a step back. Before he could move another inch, Anika punched him squarely on his jaw. He stumbled back a little with its impact. Before he could handle himself another punch landed on his stomach and he winced in pain, but didn't say anything.
All of this happened in a blink of an eye, and nobody could react. Anika was about to punch him again when Adi caught her hands lightly. "What happened Ruhi?" He asked her concerned, completely ignoring the look of pity and sympathy the twins shot him. Anika gave him a scorching gaze and he quickly stepped back.
"You disappeared. Didn't bother to drop a message in three years. And YOU have the AUDACITY to ask WHAT HAPPENED?" She literally raged at him. And again hit him in the chest, but this time with little force.
Adi gulped seeing her like this, and prayed to all the gods to save him. He knew very well an angry Ruhi was never a good news. He slowly took a step towards her and was about to say
something when she showed him her palm, stopping him in his track. "DON'T YOU DARE ADI! I don't want to talk to you. Nahi aap dono se koi baat karni hai." She said the last part looking at Abhira and Akash, who just gave her a nervous smile, as if already used to her
anger. This time even Rudra and Gayatri couldn't stop their jaws from dropping, while the other three were simply trying to process what they just saw. Adi quietly went and sat near his sister while wincing in pain. He decided to wait for her to calm down before approaching her again, otherwise he knew she wouldn't hesitate to beat him up.
