"I can vouch for this man." -Gilmore Girls, 4.2
You all have my sympathies because I am literally crazy because I probably have all these weird disorders, but after getting to know me, I'm much more stable and my thinking doesn't seem as crazy. If all three of my real crushes understand me now [and I've have ten conversations with two of them collectively], then you'll understand.
Also, I'm sorry for the late update... but I'm currently in Asia so the time zone and sightseeing has interfered with the update. Terribly sorry.
So hi, I'm Phoebe, the creator of The Teddy Challenge. Since I'm the only one who's done it so far, I'm willingly giving you tips, advice, and other miscellaneous stuff. My friends can vouch for me that I've done this, since I dragged them into it, and at some point I broke a pushpin because I fell over [PM me if you want to hear the entire story].
As I was saying... I'm willing to give you lovely people advice. Here's some I can think of right now:
one • You must decide [please, please, please] what the time frame you want. Whether it's a one-note thing, or regular/semi-regular thing, you have to commit to your schedule. I decided that it would be four days, but I didn't commit to it, so my life became miserable. After the four days, I got caught up in the fun and then the notes came at irregular times. There were days where I didn't do it, and days where I planted three notes in one day. It gets very, very confusing to the person you're sending it to.
two • MULTIPLE DAYS, A NOTE A DAY, MULTIPLE PEOPLE. That's how it works. If it's 3+ days, you need multiple people. Two days and two notes is durable, but otherwise it's crazy. I had a plan for each of the first four days. Day one was at his backpack, and his friend's saw my best friend #1 plant it, making them think it was her until later on. Day two was in his first period, but best friend #2 had it with him, so she planted it on his chair. Day #3 was in history class, where one of my other friends did. And Day #4 was in his backpack where I planted it during our English test [it was actually funny how that worked out]. So lesson learned: You must have at least one other person helping you. Unless your school has lockers [unlike mine], then it might be easy.
three • Inspiration, inspiration, inspiration. Writer's block sucks with these notes, and half my notes would be so terrible that I threw them out and got stuck with half that didn't work. So if you ever need help with jokes/weird cheesy pick-up lines/encouragement, go look at Theodore's notes in A Note A Day, or my Seventh Grade Tales, or PMing/kiking anyone from The Teddy Challenge group.
four • Timing and location is everything. Depending on where you're doing it, then there's difference adventure. If you're in the same period, do it right before class or during class subtly if they left their desk during class or something. If they're in the same classroom but the period right after, place it at their desk. Go into the teacher's classroom before school for their first period. Plant it during lunch or break. If they bike or skateboard or something, place it there before they get there. I hope you get the point [??].
five • Care about the person. This probably shouldn't be fifth, but five is my favorite number, so it's justified. If they're your friend, it's simpler. If they're your crush and you're even slightly close, it should be easy to do to write personal notes. If you don't talk to them, a personal note is a little harder unless you're a die-hard stalker like me [ish]. Do it on random people if you want, but that's still sort of hard because they'll either think you're a) a die-hard stalker and track you down to give you a piece of their minds, b) crazy pycho and report you, or c) ignore it and just be like "WTF?!?!?!" in their minds. Plus, if you don't know them at all, it's harder to make personal notes. If you need help with anything about the notes, contact us gals here.
six • Size. I usually do it on a fourth of a lined sheet of paper. Not like cross fourth, but fold it into three times with all the fold parallel to the lines on the sheet of paper. I also sometimes used post-its. Though it's your preference, and I'd like to know what you like to use! I've never actually tried anything else because my notes are long and that way it worked well. [Please don't take me as a planner or someone who needs a schedule, because at camp someone commented, "You don't seem like a spontaneous person" and I yelled at him for three minutes.]
So I hope this all makes a little bit of sense. If you need any more clarification, inspiration, or whatever you want, just message me concerning the actually carrying out of the challenge. I don't know how experienced Turtle and Sophie are in this, so try them out.
If you decide to be a 'Teddy,' you will have my forever sympathies/gratitude. Thank you for participating!
