😭 😭 😭RAGHAVENDRA POV
I found myself amidst chaos after Dev's sudden departure like this. Efforts to reach him were futile, and tensions ran high. Omkar and Dharm rushed after him while my father intervened to prevent my distressed mother from following Dev.
Turning to Shalini's father, I couldn't contain my frustration, and my voice rang out loud, "Why did you agree to the marriage if your daughter wasn't willing?" Shalini's father, avoiding eye contact, offered a weak justification about some supposed agreement regarding land.
My anger surged, and I raised an eyebrow incredulously, a smirk of disbelief tugging at my lips, "So, are you suggesting that I told you to do this? Absurd!" His fear was palpable as he stammered, denying my accusation in a trembling voice.
Sarcasm dripped from my words as I retorted, "Is that so?" Clenching my fists, I emphasized, "I merely mentioned that we would proceed with the marriage if your daughter agreed, not impose our decision on her without her consent."
Attempting to justify himself, Shalini's father asserted his authority as her father, claiming the right to make decisions for her. My patience wore thin as I reminded him sharply of the consequences of his actions, "You should have sought your daughter's consent. Any coercion will have repercussions."
His voice trembled as he mentioned the girl waiting at the wedding altar. I turned to observe her in her bridal attire, then back to Shalini's father, demanding answers, "What is the meaning of this?"
His explanation about my father's commitment to the marriage left me bewildered and frustrated. "What do you mean?" I asked, confusion and irritation evident in my tone.
Shalini's father continued, "Your father gave his word when Dev found out that Shalini is not there in the bride's place."
I tried to think again and again.
I was confused and went towards my father, asking, "Bapu sa, did you promise Shalini's father regarding her marriage?" My father kept his hand on my shoulder and confirmed, "Yes, Raghavendra, we did say so."
I questioned further, "But why, bapu sa, why did you do that?" My father replied, "I thought it might save the honor of this family."
I expressed my concerns, "But even this decision has consequences, and Dev has already left. I don't think he will return." My father explained, "But now that I have given my word, it is our responsibility to fulfill it because we are Rajputs."
Feeling disappointed, I said, "What do you want me to do, bapu sa?" My father looked at me and the girl at the mandap, placing his hand on my shoulder, and said, "You have to marry her, Raghavendra."
I was taken aback and protested, "But why, me?" My father reasoned, "Look, Raghavendra, if you are not coming today, then the wedding will happen tomorrow. What's wrong with this marriage?"
I argued, "But bapu sa, this marriage was for Dev, and nobody has agreed to this marriage. How can we proceed?" My father smirked and said, "Raghavendra, I know you don't want to get married, but don't forget that I am your father."
