You Made Me A Poet

You made me a poet

You fuel my every word

Ideas within me stirred

My words inspired by you

Although you never knew

You made me a poet

You put my pen on the page

My thoughts you engaged

You helped the ink flow

My writing grow

You made me a poet

Your actions speak through my words

For better or worse

You thought nothing of them afterward

Leaving me with this curse

You made me a poet

To lie awake late in the night

Writing word after word

To write and to write

Until my vision is blurred

You made me a poet

Your words made my book

As you took and you took

But at least you left me a rope

To use my poetry to cope
