I stood and watched my fish slowly cook, adding seasoning or sauces if necessary.
It finally finished, and I pulled it out and brought it to the table where Sidon and Yona were sitting. I took a seat at the table and placed the fish in the middle, along with the other ones.
"How was your day, Link?" Yona asked me. Sidon scowled. "Well....besides me beating your husband at catching a bigger fish..." I smirked, "Nothing much, me and Bazz cleared out some monsters surrounding the domain." I replied.
I grabbed a hylian bass and began eating it. "Ah! Very good. I should send out some more soldiers to clear any threats" She said mostly to herself.
"Link, do you know where Mipha's trident is? I misplaced it. Mipha was always better at keeping track of it" Sidon asked. "You mean you lost it." Yona said playfully. Sidon laughed. "I suppose I did. That's why Mipha never let me have it, I'm pretty sure she let YOU have it more than me Link, I-
I felt my eyes welling up with tears. Mipha........my dearest friend. "Excuse me," I interrupted, standing up and leaving.
Once outside the throne room, I ran. Ignoring the friendly greetings of the Zora, I swiftly passed. I dove into the water.
"I figured you would be here," Sidon said from behind me. "What do you want?" I asked, still staring at her statue.
"Listen Link, I'm sorry. I know you two where close friends. But you have to get over it Link, it-"
"Get over it!? You had one hundred years to get over it! I didn't! Once I regained my memory of her I immediately found out she was DEAD!" I yelled, turning around, tears of anger and sorrow falling.
"I know you had a hard experience. I know how the pain feels. But it happened long ago, and-"
"You don't know how it feels! To wake up and find all your friends dead! To fail your duty as a knight! As a hero! To break a promise to spend more time with her! To fail your king! your princess! your friends! Your....love." I faltered.
"You're right I don't know how it feels. I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling for Mipha's-"
"DON'T, say her name in front of me again! " I screamed. Sidon looked down, but then balled his fists and closed his eyes.
"Listen." He said firmly. "You cannot cut off everyone from your grief! You have to let people in. Or you will someday collapse of grief. You are not the only one who is ashamed of their past. I was powerless to save Mipha. I grieve her as well. But I let people in" He said to me. Touching my shoulder.
"Link, my best friend. You must not bear this bloody grief alone. I will carry it with you. If you let me in." He said.
I closed my eyes, stopping any further tears. "May the goddess bless you Sidon. Thank you" I embraced him.
"Anytime Link" He replied.
