Ruins of Agreste's mansions 1 am
Chat's PovI looked everywhere once I arrived there after a bit of night patrol I did. No matter how I looked at the place I once called home, I couldn't find her. That was until I decided to check the backyard. I saw her swinging on the swing that somehow survived and was barely holding itself. I slowly walked up to her swinging. You know, I remember pushing you on this very swing when you were little. Even though this whole place is ruined, this place reminds me of good old times when the world wasn't dark and griddy like it is now. It's like this place hasn't been affected by time. - Argenia said, her voice being filled with joy, even though the world around her was dark and griddy.
I stood in silence for a moment, taking in the sight of my mother on the swing, her silhouette illuminated by the faint moonlight filtering through the ruins. Despite the desolation that surrounded us, her words stirred a sense of nostalgia within me, reminding me of happier times long gone.
I remember those days too, Mom. - I replied, my voice tinged with a mixture of sadness and longing. - It feels like a lifetime ago.
Argenia smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling with memories. Yes, it does. - she agreed. - But some things never change, no matter how much time passes.
I nodded, a pang of guilt gnawing at me. - I'm sorry, Mom. - I said softly. - For everything that's happened, for the pain I've caused.
Argenia reached out and gently placed a hand on my arm, her touch comforting. - There's nothing to apologize for, Adrien, - she said, her voice soothing. - We've all made mistakes, but what matters is how we move forward from them.
I sighed, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders at her words. -I just... I just wish things could go back to how they used to be. - I admitted, my voice being barely above a whisper.
Argenia's smile softened, her gaze filled with understanding. - I know, my dear. - she said softly. - But sometimes, the past is meant to stay in the past. We must focus on the present and the future, and find our strength in moving forward.
Her words resonated with me, offering a sense of clarity amidst the turmoil of my thoughts. With a nod, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lay ahead.
You're right, Mom - I said, determination burning in my eyes. - I won't let the darkness consume me. I'll do whatever it takes to protect those I love and make things right. - Argenia smiled proudly, her eyes shining with pride. That's my son. - she said, her voice filled with love. - I have faith in you, Adrien. Always remember that.
With renewed resolve, I reached out and took her hand, squeezing it gently. Together, we sat in silence, finding solace in each other's presence as we gazed out into the night, ready to face whatever challenges awaited us in the days to come.
You know, it still aches me knowing that your father was the man who sold the world. And for what? Power? Total dominance? He already had everything, yet he always wants more. And now? Look at what has become of this place. It's the French Revolution all over again - Argenia said in disregard as we were swinging on the swings.
I nodded solemnly, feeling the weight of my mother's words echoing in the stillness of the night. The truth in her words was undeniable, and it filled me with a sense of sorrow and regret for the role my father had played in the downfall of our family and our home.
