Boot Camp?

"Alright. Everyone Move!", a German soldier yelled to the Americans around him.

Everyone quickly stood up, rushing out of the cart as ordered once it had stopped. Y/N and Roman staying close, made their way in the crowd to the opened doors. Helping each other down, they step foot onto the muddy ground. The clouds were grey and there were puddles everywhere. Looking around the open area, what looks to be a boot camp is settled in front of the group. Barbed wire fencing covering who knows how much land with cabins stationed in all areas.

"Home sweet home", Y/N comments making Roman laugh slightly.

"Very cozy and welcoming indeed."

There was a plethora of American soldiers littering the enemy camp. Some taking notice of those who have arrived are pushed up against the fences closest to them to see who made it. Pushing the group forward, Y/N and Roman make their way down the aisle lined with fencing. Soldiers are screaming at them, some being recognized. The Germans are keeping a close eye on them, ensuring they wouldn't make a move to escape. It was open field beyond them though they wouldn't get far without being sniped from the towers or run down from the guard dogs.

Y/N loves animals, especially large breeds of dogs, but here? There was no way. Teeth barred, and barking at everyone who passed, wanting to be released just to pull them to the ground. She was definitely scared. Who wouldn't be?

Making it past the big entrance gate, the newly recruited friends stop walking.

"What do we do now?", Roman asks.

"You're asking like I have the answer."

"Well, you could."

"How? Please enlighten me Rome on how I would have to the answer to what to do in a boot camp that we'll most likely die in."

"Well if you put it that way I-", he tries to finish his sentence before being cut off.

"Y/N?", someone yells from a distance.

Furrowing her eyebrows she looks at the space around her, not finding anyone.

"Y/N!", the man shouts again being more sure of recognizing his friend.

She looks around once more before her eyes land on the man calling her name. Quite beat up but still recognizable. Smile lighting up her face, she doesn't hesitate to run toward the man. Meeting him in the middle, he stumbles back from the force Y/N put on him by practically running into him. Wrapping her legs around his waist, he easily holds her up with his arms around her hips.

"I thought I lost you", he mumbles into her neck. "I looked for you, you know."

"Jesus Christ John. Never tell me to jump out of a plane again", she laughs.

"Either that or go down with the plane."

"Sometimes we've gotta make sacrifices."

He chuckles and pulls away from her neck, getting a look at her face. Y/N does the same, putting her hands on his cheeks, analyzing his bruised eye.

"Who'd you piss off this time?"

"Don't worry about it sweetheart", he says while giving her his charming smile she's missed seeing.
