♔Kristin felt as if she was being roused from a deep sleep for a moment.
"One- ... Jennette, Juliette, one of- ... Empress of the- ... Empire."
Jennette? Juliette? What? Whose voice is this?
"...-Ette, your highne-... stop crying...!" A hushed voice called out in her direction.
Highness? Wait- whose baby is crying? And why is everything around her so muffled? Seriously. Kristin can barely make out a thing being said.
Despite having to strain her ears to hear most things around her at that moment in time, the whining coming from whatever baby that was near Kristin was, apparently, the one sound that wasn't muffled. And that ticked the lady off, she wasn't going to lie. Kristin was never one to like kids, much less babies (and yet, she somehow was -more often than not- the best with kids in the room).
Getting annoyed with the wails of the —most likely— infant, as well as feeling a migraine creeping on into her head, Kristin attempted to roll her eyes beneath her closed eyelids (yeah, by the way, why couldn't she open her eyes?) and reached out to whatever was in front of her.
...
Erm, what?
Why were Kristin's arms so stubby?!
What in the world?!
The girl knows she couldn't see her arms —or any of her body, for that matter— but she sure as heck was certain that her arms never felt this stiff and vulnerable in her entire life.
Just listen- it was hard to explain, but her arms (and the rest of her body) felt... weak.Like-
Hold on, was she being held right now?!
As in, like, how an infant should be held?!
Was Kristin a baby?!!
Setting that nutcase aside for another time to ponder, she finally mustered up the strength to lift up her eyelids, and good lord, were those diamonds?
Her head felt heavy, yet somewhere in Kristin, she found the strength to turn her head to the right. Shakily, albeit, but still. What greeted her was squinted diamond blue eyes filled with tears. No, literally, it was like instead of having eyes, she (she thinks the baby was a she?) had diamonds in their place. Kristin could also just barely make out a few brown strands of hair on the child's head.
Was it just her, or did this kid look a lot like Jennette Margarita? Just- y'know, aged down a couple of years.
You see it too? Yeah. Maybe Kristin was dreaming. Reasonable conclusion, she thinks....
Only, the crying Jennette look-alike merely kept on making noise.
"Be quiet!" Kristin demanded, glaring at the brunette baby as best she could with her tired eyes. She didn't, in fact, stop crying.
But, she did get even louder and for a moment, it looked like the infant was reaching out to her.A watery sea of blue met Kristin's stressed gaze with longing. The Jennette look-alike (we're just gonna call her Jennette, ok?) began flailing her arms, effectively causing the lady who held her to quietly curse.
"Do you think the princess wants to be with her sister?" The maid who held her whispered, glancing uncertainly at the two children they were assigned to take care of.
The maid who was holding Jennette nodded, already walking toward the gold-plated crib in the middle of the room to place the girl down. "Yes, this one is already fussing." she sighed, exhaustion and annoyance radiating off of her in waves. She turned around, lightly brushing her hands on her apron. "At least Juliette isn't crying, Mary. You got the good one."
Mary nodded once and began to walk toward the crib not a moment later. She set the other princess on the bed gently, considerably gentler than the first maid did when discarding of Jennette.
A breathy sigh escaped Mary's lips when her gazed locked mesmerizingly onto the princess' eyes.
"Master Alpheus did say he had big things in mind for these two young ones..." she whispered, staring at the two with blank, yet entranced eyes.

Ok. If there was anything to go by in relation to what Kristin just overheard, a lot of things could be happening right now. She's summarized it to three points, though.
One, Kristin was reincarnated into either '𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴', or '𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘔𝘦 𝘈 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴?'.
Two, the Jennette look-alike was actually the real Jennette Margarita. Which was, honestly, not that difficult to think about. Given, of course, that she was too tired to try and care.
And three, her name was no longer Kristin. It was Juliette. Juliette Margarita, Jennette Margarita's older twin sister.
Juliette sighed in acceptance, meekly trying to reach out to Jennette with as much strength as she could muster.
Hey, if Juliette was going to just accept the reality, she might as well try and make the most out of the positives here, right? Jennette had always (well- not always, Juliette was pretty fond of Athanasia for most of '𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙈𝙚 𝙖 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨?') been her favorite character In '𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘔𝘦 𝘢 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴?', or at least one of her favorites.
Juliette'd be damned if she didn't take the chance at spending time with Jennette in this life. And hey, even if this was a dream, at least she got to see those enchanting eyes that all the Obelian royalty had.
'Jennette...' she thought, staring at the rapidly calming princess with fascination. 'Now, just how are we going to go about this?'
