A car on the highway, driving out from a town, Atlanta. It turned out to be a police car with 2 people in. One is a old officer and behind him is, Lee Everett, in handcuffs.

Lee was sent to prison for murder, first degree. His wife, probably Ex-wife now, had a affair with a senator and in a blick of an eye, blind in uncontrollable rage, Lee accidentally killed the senator and with him his marriage.

Lee looked at the handcuffs with guilt and closed his eyes and sighed.

The officer seemed to notice it, playing with the rear-view mirror he placed it in Lee direction, looking at him. Couple of seconds of silence later he broke it.

Officer: Well, I reckon you didn't do it then.

Lee looked outside and decide to speak.

Lee: How can you tell?

Officer: Y'know, I've driven a bunch's' fellas down to this prison. Lord knows how many. Usually is 'bout now I get the "I didn't do it.".

Lee looked at him and stated,

Lee: Not from me.

Officer: 'Cause guys in your position already said it enough?

The funk played and stated something but of them ignored it and continued their conversation.

Officer: I followed you case a little bit, you being a Macon boy and-"

Lee cut him off.

Lee: You from Macon then.

Officer: Yep. Came up to Atlanta to be a city cop in the seventies. Always wanted to work a murder case, like that senatorial mess that got yourself mixed up in, with all due respect.

At this moment couple of police cars were headed the opposite direction, into Atlanta.

The officer finished as Lee stared at the cars.

Officer: A real shame that is. Hell, the whole family used to be regulars at your folks' drugstore right in downtown. Still there?

Lee: Sure is.

Officer: Good.

The funk played again, but they still continued their conversation.

Officer: I got a nephew up at UGA, you teach there long.

Lee: Going on my sixth year, but started first at a Highschool, for a year or two in the area.

Officer: Really?

Lee: Sure did.

Officer: How was it? Lots off teens are little punks after all.

Lee chuckled a little at his comment and had one special student in his mind.

Lee: You are right but not all of them were like that.

The officer narrowed his eyes and looked at Lee through the mirror.

Officer: How so?

Lee: There was a boy, really smart one for his age, he also helped other students with their troubles in classes. His names is Peter, but I'm not gonna tell you more.

Officer: Shame. Sound's like he's a real good kid.

Lee nodded his head.

Lee: He is.

Officer: Then you meet your wife on Athens?

Lee eyes widened and the looked out at the road again.
