"Savannah! You're late again. Take a seat please, we have some guests from the intelligence unit at cpd giving us a talk about street safety." My teacher said as I strolled into class, I was only 4 minutes late but I swear this woman takes everything out of proportion. I don't like her anyway, she's horrible. I told her almost 50 times when I first started here that I would rather be called Sav, or Finchy which is my last name but when she carried on using my full name I just gave up.
I took my seat at the front of the room, and left my hood up with my earphones in. I didn't want anyone to see the black eye and the bruised cheekbone I acquired from last night. Especially not the people in blue.
One of the cops started handed sheets out and everyone else started chatting amongst themselves, she was a light brunette with a sort of raspy voice.
"Hood down savannah, I've told you many times how disrespectful it is." The teacher rambled.
'Oh shut up' I whispered under my breath, as I got handed a sheet. It was all just common sense really, like what would you do if.... situations.
"Now." She demanded.
I couldn't be bothered arguing and just pulled my hood down in a huff. "Happy now?" I said sarcastically as she glared at me. I was sat quite literally right opposite her desk because, in her words, she didn't trust me to be anywhere else.
One of the officers stared at me while the other 3 went around the room to help people and give the advice on the answers, he looked older than everyone. And for some reason I recognized him.
"Savannah finch." He said quietly as he walked over to my desk.
"I'm sergeant Hank Voight, remember me?" I shook my head, where the fuck does he know me from?
"I helped you get home not so long ago, you where sat on a park bench with a bottle of vodka in your hands."
Oh.
well that's embarrassing.
"Oh right, sorry I can't remember." I said, avoiding all eye contact to make this even worse.
"You don't look so good, are you alright?" He asked with worry laced into his tone. His raspy voice kind of comforted me? Not in a weird way, but I think him just asking if I was alright was comforting.
"Yeah I'm fine." I said bluntly. I didn't want him to ask any more questions.
"I'm a detective, I know when someone is lying." He said, and placed a card on my table. It said 'Sgt. Henry Voight' on the top, and then his contact information following.
"If you need me, call me" He added, and then walked off to go to another table to do what all the other cops where doing.
I shoved his card in my wallet, and I found a sense of security and safety with it there. But now that hes moved away from my table I can feel my teachers stare, it's almost burning through my body . I couldn't cope.
"I'm going the toilet." I said while getting out of my seat.
"Savannah. No you're not, you need a hall pass." Mrs Harding said trying to get me to come back like I would actually listen to her.
I walked out the door with not a care in the world, and made my way to the nearest bathroom.
"Sav! Miss girl I haven't seen you in months. How have you been?" Tianna said as I walked into the bathroom. I loved this girl with my whole heart, in a friendly way- kinda. We met in 7th grade when I just moved here from the UK, and ever since we've been pretty close. Only recently we have drifted because all my classes changed due to 'behavioral issues'
"I've not been too bad, Mrs Harding wont get off my ass but whats new there. What about you?" I replied.
"I've been doing good! Me and the group are all heading to Dylan's later for a party if you wanna join? I' sure everyone would love to see you, we've missed you so much!"
"Sounds good, I've got detention so I'll be here till 5, but I could come straight over if you want? Will probably get there for about 6."
"Yeah that's perfect! I think me and Amy are getting there for about 5:30, Sam and Julio are staying at Dylan's so they'll already be there." She said.
"Sweet, message me the addy. I'll see you later, gotta get back to class." I said, as I walked out the bathroom. That was a nice break. I needed it, I genuinely cannot stand this bloody teacher.
--------Back in class-------
"That's a detention for walking out Savannah, I did not give you permission." The teacher said as I walked back in to class, I'm guessing she was giving people early finish as everyone was packing away.
"Yeah cause i need permission to go for a piss even though it's a basic human need." I replied back sarcastically, she just rolled her eyes.
"You can stay here for the remainder off the lesson while everyone else gets an early finish to go home."
"I'm not arsed, i have to stay for detention anyways." I replied while smirking. It was good to make her feel stupid. Sounds mean, but I don't care in the slightest.
All the officers where still in the room packing away.
"Would you mind if we take her away from you Miss Harding?" The sergeant Hank Voight said. My face dropped. I don't really want to spend time with cops. No offence to them, but this could get me in a lot of shit if someone sees me with them.
"Sure, I'm certain she could do with a lesson from you sergeant. Thank you for today."
Just cause she can't teach properly doesn't mean she has to hand me of to the police to learn something. The sergeant just smiled and walked out while all the others followed him.
As we walked out the door another cop started talking, he had blackish hair and was wearing a leather jacket.
"Guessing you're not a fan of school then?" I just shook my head. I'm not gonna lie, I felt a bit intimidated. I liked the other guy, Hank, but I've never met these other ones. I din't know what they where like.
"I'm Antonio, one of Hanks detectives. Can I ask what happened to your face?" He asked, he seemed like proper cop. Questioning everything.
"Listen, I'm really sorry but if i'm seen walking with a bunch of cops I'm fucked. Doesn't matter if it's in school. Word gets about around here." I said, avoiding the question. Hank knew I was up to dodgy shit anyway so I'm not bothered if this confirms his theory.
"Alright kid, you can go if you want. You know how to find me if you need me. Don't hesitate." Hank said.
That was my queue to walk off in a hurry.
------3rd person------
"what was that about Hank?" Al said, questioning the whole ordeal that had just happened.
"It's the girl. Alan finch's daughter, that's her. Remember when I went to check if she was alright that one night? Yeah that's the same girl, this time with a massive bruise across her face. I gave her my card in case she needs us and we don't notice. " Hank replied. He knew she would need it at some point, because it was obvious she was going to get into some kind of shit. Wether it was at home, or just getting into normal street fights.
"She looks like me when I was younger. Trapped." Erin added, and Hank nodded in agreement.
"Well if she does call Hank, you know we're happy to help." Olinsky said, and hank patted him on the shoulder to say thank you.
Will they be able to help her, will she even call for help?
