"You're going down a bad path Savannah." Hank said, while walking into the interrogation room and sitting down.
"Sav. please." I said, I hated my full name it felt too posh.
"I've got your file here Sav. I'm not going to lie to you kid. It doesn't look too good, and if you don't start speaking soon, it will look a hell of a lot worse." Hank continued, Antonio walked in too, and sat down.
"You don't understand. If I start speaking, he'll kill me. And don't even start with this witness protection bull shit. Regular cops will do nothing against him."
"We'll it's a good thing we ain't regular cops." Antonio said.
"We know who your dad is Sav. We know what he gets up too, we know what he does. In about 5 minutes he's going to be in custody of the 24th precinct. So you don't have to worry about him. What you do have to worry about, is the fact that if you get sent to juvie, in 2 years you'll be sent to a state prison due to your record." Hank added. This made my heart drop.
"What?! You have my dad?!" I shouted. As much as I dont like him. He's the reason I have a roof over my head.
"Who gave you that bruise Sav?" Hank said, completely avoiding what I just said.
"You cant just tell me you have my dad and then ask random questions! Thats not how it works!" I shouted back.
"You know it's not a random question." Antonio said.
I remained silent.
"What happened? You're dad gave you the dope to sell, you got paid with dodgey cash, and when your dad found out. I dont think he was too happy. That sound familiar?" Hank said, in a stern voice.
"How the fuck do you know?" I said, concerned.
"We have a camera and mic set up in each room your dad uses. We've been going after him for a while. Now we finally have him." Antonio replied.
"So, you're telling me that you heard everything he was doing to me. Saw everything. Yet you didn't do a fucking thing. You just let me sit there on the floor and take his punches? You watched him almost strangle me to death, yet you just sat there and did nothing?!" I shouted, stand up out of my seat. A tear rolling slowly down my cheek, not out of sadness, but anger.
"You watched me, you watched me going down a hole. Smoking away the pain, doing everything I could to try and get myself back up. And you call yourself cops. You're meant to help people. Save them." I said slowly sitting back down, the two men remaining in their positions.
"Why didn't you save me?!" I screamed, while I hit the table. Causing my fist to ache.
Neither of them flinched. Not even a blink. And their facial expressions. They remained the same, and I think that's what angered me even more.
"You gonna calm down so we can talk like adults? or are we gonna have to take you down to a holding cell for you do calm down before we try this again?" Hank said bluntly.
"I want you to explain yourself first." I said in the same tone he spoke to me. Blunt.
"Kid, we wish we could've gone in and helped you, we really do. In fact we were outside your door ready to kick it down. Until we got a call from our tech guy Jin, saying that you managed to hold your own and fought him off you. I found you on the park bench because I followed you, after you had an argument with your dad, I was worried you was going to do something stupid."
"I promise you kid, we where looking out for you, but we knew you could hold your own. We know you're a fighter. So we decided to let him carry on for another 2 weeks so we could get him locked away for life. So we could get him away from you for life." Hank replied, but this time he had emotion in his words. Like he meant everyone of them.
"I'm too far gone. I'm down a wrong path to the point where I cant turn around." I said looking down, I didn't know what else too say.
"Let us help you sav, we can help you." Antonio said, before someone walked into the room. She had dark brown hair which was kind of wavy. In fact, it was the same person from the presentation in miss Harding's class.
"Hey, we got a lead."
"Thanks Erin, listen kid. Sergeant Platt is gonna come up, she'll put you in the break room and get you some food. We wont be long." Hank said, before getting out of his seat and rushing out the door, Antonio following.
Now I was just stuck with my thoughts, waiting for another officer to come and get me. It felt weird being around so many cops, but I wasn't running from them. In fact at this point, I'm quite literally waiting for them to come back.
I also can't help but wonder whats going to happen next. My dads gone. I have no other family here in the states. I'm alone. I have friends, but I'm surrounded by cops. And plus now my dads gone, I wont have any drugs to pay them with. Hell I'm not even gonna have any drugs for myself. After relying on them since the age of 13. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm 17 now. That's 4 years relying on substances to keep me going, give me energy. Now I wont have that, unless I'm willing to pay unbelievable amounts, which is going to be hard considering I don't have any money.
"Hey, Savannah?" An officer walked into the interrogation room where i was left. I'm guessing this is the Sergeant Platt Hank told me about.
"Just sav will do, and yeah that's me." I replied back, but in a nice way.
"Come with me, let me get you some where comfy to sit and some food." She said, holding the door open waiting for me to walk out.
I'm guessing now I just wait, for the news which is probably going to change my life forever, whether it is good or bad.
