January

Chapter VI

September 11 15 S.I. Questvillia 8:45

January is sitting on a chair right by her unconscious mother. Doctors tried hard to wake her up but she hasn't yet. They believe she won't wake up until next week but January has hope she will wake up tomorrow or later.

She looks at the clock, almost 8:45. She's not late for school, plus not for class. They get an hour break before class starts. She grabs her bag and slowly walks away from the hospital bed. She walks to the door and looks at her mother. Tears fill her eyes and she sighs a bit.

"Bye, mom. I'll see you in a few hours." January closes the door and walks towards the entrance of the hospital.

She walks to her hover car and unlocks the doors. She sets her bag down in the passenger seat and sits in front of the steering wheel. She sighs and locks the car. She pulls the joystick to reverse and she slowly backs out of the parking space.

Gasp! I forgot I was going to be friends with Leon! Ugh... I'm so stupid. How am I going to make it up to Remi? Maybe I should tell her my mom is in the hospital and I had to miss school a couple of times.

January thinks while driving to school. She pulls into the school parking lot and parks close to the doors. She grabs her bag and walks to the entrances of the school. She takes a deep breath and opens the doors to the cafeteria.

"Ahhh, school has returned." January sighs and walks to her locker.

She looks for hallway 5C and locker number 1425. When she finds her locker a person stops in front of January and she runs into the kid's chest. Her bag slips off from her arm and she stumbles a bit.

"Oh I'm so sorry," January kneels to grab her bag. The kid kneels with her to help pick up the mess. January looks up to see the kid's face. Skin as white as snow, eyes as blue as the water. The kid's hair as dark as the night sky. Very navy blue. Appears to be male. That's Leon DeVa. He was actually helping her! "Umm... let me just move and I'll be out of your way."

"Oh, hey aren't you the girl that's a Magicka?" Leon asks.

"Uhh, yeah," she's pretending she doesn't know who Leon is. "And you are?"

"Oh, I'm Leon DeVa."

"Oh you're the beauty guy that girls dream to marry you."

"Yeah, I get that a lot."

January smiles a bit and continues to put some stuff back in her bag. Her stomach is filled with butterflies. She's actually talking to the real Leon DeVa.

"Well, Leon, I need to go put some stuff up. Maybe I'll see you at lunch?" January looks into Leon's eyes.

"Uhhh... yeah, sure. But is it okay if one of my friends can join?" Leon rubs the back of his neck like he's embarrassed.

"Sure, maybe my friend can meet your friend." she smiles to his reply.

"Okay, well... see you later." Leon waves and walks away to the cafeteria

"Bye." January backs away and walks to her locker.

She types in the combination and the lock pops off. She opens the metal door and sets her bag on a coat holder. She grabs her Literature and Grammar II books and shuts her locker.

"So... someone just became friends with Leon." a voice fills January's ears after she closes her locker.

"Remi! You scared the Starbursts out of me!" January holds her hand over her chest.

"Ooh I like Starbursts, they're delicious. So tell me, did you get him to be friends with you?" Remi brushes some dust off her green best she's wearing.

"Yeah, me and you are going to hang out with Leon and Kaito at lunch period today!" January smiles.

Remi squeals at the highest pitch as possible. She jumps around and hugs January. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jan! You're the best!"

"No problem, hey we need to get to class."

"Right, class."

January's last class before lunch break, Physical Education. She sort of likes P.E. but it depends on what they do.

She rushes to the gym locker rooms and tries to get changed in 3 minutes. She opens the door and walks to a changing compartment.

Hurry, hurry.

January finishes changing and slips in some sneakers. She jogs to the doors of the gym and dramatically opens them.

She sees all the boys stretching on one side and girls gossiping in the other. January walks to the girls side and stretches her arms. Some girls look at her disgustingly and others giggle.

Whatever, they're just brats that hate gym and want to gossip all day long.

January rolls her eyes at them and starts to stretch her legs. A gym door is slammed open and closes with echoes all over the giant room. The physical teacher is here. Her hair as white as snow, her skin as pale as a vampire. Its Mrs. Direst, one of the best teachers January has heard of.

"Okay class, today I have a couple announcements," Mrs. Direst fixes her hair and pulls it up in a ponytail. She brushes her jumpsuit from dust or whatever is on there. "Next week, we start physical testing. But, it is a bit more competitive," some girls sigh and groan while the guys do gestures of victory. "So whoever is the best physical competitor, will be out of P.E. for the rest of the semester and your grade will be an A."

Remi opens the doors to the gym and walks beside January. "Sorry if I'm late, Mrs. Direst." she apologizes and bows. She rises back up and sees a confused look on the teacher's face.

"Oh, it's fine Ms. Mochizuki. I won't take it off your grade," some boys' jaws dropped and girls started yelling. "Guys! You won't get your grade dropped from tardiness in my class for everyone! Unless it happens twice in a row!" Mrs. Direst rises her voice to the moans and yelling in the gym. Everyone sighs with relief and goes back talking about their conversation. January walks to Remi and casually nods to her.

"Hey Jan! What's up," Remi tries to start a conversation. "How's your mom? I heard Yeveltian's troops attacked your mother and got some secret information?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty pissed off why they want to know our information. Maybe because some of my family was royalty?" January sighs.

"Maybe Yeveltian wants to know how to rule... you never know." Remi suggests.
