She had just moved into a new house. Lakelyn had decided to bring freshly baked cookies for
her new next door neighbor , as a gift for any inconvenience. Being a bit afraid, though - he is
very intimidating and clearly older - what if they don't hit it off? She knocks three times on his
door and a while later he opens, his messy hair immediately catching your attention. "Yeah?" He
raises his eyebrow and crosses his arms. "Can I help you?" The pitter patter of little feet sounds
from behind him, and suddenly a little girl is standing and holding onto his leg. "I-I uh.. I made
cookies as a sort of.. gift of inconvenience.." She said while she glanced at the words she'd
written on her palm and restated "g-gift if any inconvenience.." He was tall and very intimidating,
she couldn't help but slightly peek behind him to see the sweetest little girl standing holding his
leg. He's trying his best not to laugh at her nervous stuttering, but it's obvious he's amused.
"Cookies, huh?" He takes a tiny step forward and takes the cookies from her hands, "And you
are.." "I'm.. Lakelyn.." she spoke softly, her tone of voice was so sweet, but she was definitely
the shy type . "the cookies ...are chocolate chip.."She muttered while nodding towards the little
tin of cookies. "Ah, chocolate chip - good choice." He says in a sarcastic tone, the tone quickly
changes to warmness when his eyes notice Elodie.
"Hi!" Rang out a little girls voice. She peeked out from behind his leg and looked up. She has
dark blonde hair, almost a light brown and big, light blue eyes, she seems so innocent. "Hi.."
Lakelyn said softly while bending to be at her height.. talking to kids is so much easier than
adults, she lets out a sigh of relief "what's your name?" Said Lakelyn "I'm Elodie!" The girl
responds all happily and excitedly. She stands in front of her father's leg.
"She loves talking to strangers..." He sighs and shakes his head. "I can tell" Chuckled Lakelyn
while standing back up. "Could she have a cookie? If that's alright with you?" She asked politely.
"I guess so." He says in a slightly reluctant tone, but not wanting to disappoint his daughter, his
soft spot. He kneels down to her level and picks her up, so she can reach the cookies. "Pick
one." She quickly picks her favorite - chocolate chip and takes a bite, chewing it happily while
staring at you. "I hope you like them" She smiled softly "If you want you can take the whole tin
mr.. uh.. I didn't get your name?" She recalled while letting him take the tin completely. He
smiles as he hears her comment, a small smirk playing on his lips as he watches her take
another bite out of the cookie. "The name's Shiloh." He finally replies while getting up, adjusting
his kid on his arm and stepping away from the door. "You know you'll be her favorite person if
you keep giving her cookies" He chuckled and rustled the younger girls hair. "Shiloh?" She
repeated it, it seemed familiar .. why? Then smiled and stood up, with a bit more confidence
"well I make more than cookies." She said softly while looking down at the little girl who beamed
up at her. Shiloh can't help but notice you stand with a little more confidence than how you
walked up to the door. "More than cookies?" He asks, slightly amused but also curious. He
raises his eyebrows."I own a bakery, down the street as well.." She smiled as she tucked a
strand of her curly brown hair behind her ear."You're a baker?" He asks with surprise, as his
face is filled with intrigue. He seems intrigued, especially by her confidence, something he does
not meet on a daily basis.
"Which bakery, exactly?" "The lighthouse " She spoke softly "it's more of a family business but
it's.. mine now.." He recognized the name, but why? "It's yours now?" Shiloh's eyes are shining
bright, his voice filled with admiration. "I'm impressed, to be honest with you. What made you
take over the business?" "Oh uh.." Her expression darkened and she just shut down "I'd rather
not talk about that.. but it was nice to meet the two of you, please if you need anything just..knock on my door" she mumbled while ending the conversation and trying to walk away. He
notices her expression changing with her voice. Was it perhaps something too personal? Too
delicate to talk about? Something that hurt you? He wants to stop you, to maybe comfort you
somehow, somehow help. To see your expression go so dark is not nice to watch. "Hey-" He
tries to reach for you to grab her arm.
