It was 12:30 am at night, but she was wide-awake. Her mother strictly instructed her to sleep early, but sleep was far away from her eyes .
It was her wedding day tomorrow!
Tears rolled down from her eyes as she didn't even try to wipe them.
"I don't love her dadi. I still love my first ever love, Shyra and I don't think I will be able to love Ishita or even see her the way I used to love or see Shyra. I'm doing this marriage for the sake of my mother and nothing else." "
His words continuously echoing inside her mind ,as her head throbed in pain.
Knock! Knock!
She quickly wiped her tears as she heard someone knocking on her door. She opened the door only to find her little sister, Naira.
" Badi maa, sent me to check on you."
Naira said as she smiled sheepishly.
" I was going to sleep." Ishita said.
"Why are your eyes so red,dii?" Naira asked as she noticed her red and swollen eyes.
"Yeh...yeh-"
"were you crying?" Naira asked as Ishita quickly averted her eyes looking here and there.
"Nhi-"
" Dii, is there something that is bothering you? You can share with me you know, right?" Naira said as she hugged her elder sister tightly.
Ishita who had been trying hard not to cry infront of her little sister,finally gave up as tears rolled down from her eyes again.
Naira panicked when she saw her elder sister crying, badly.
" Dii, are you okay right? Why are you crying? tell me?" Naira asked with concern-filled voice.
"Naira, I can't do this...I can't do this marriage." Ishita said between her hiccups.
"I can't do this marriage,I won't be able to take those seven vows around the holy fire──knowing that he loves someone else." Ishita broke down completely at the end of her statement.
Naira couldn't believe her own ears, in love with someone else? Veeranshu bhai? When he is going to marry her Ishu dii? Her hands curled up into a fist.
"Di, what are you saying, tell me clearly please!"
After a long pause, Ishita finally narrated the whole story.
A tear escaped her eyes as she saw her elder sister still crying in her arms.
"Dii,If this is true then I will not leave them." Naira said as she felt sudden rage growing inside her.
" No-no, Naira! Stop- "
Naira's steps halted and Ishita stopped in the middle of her sentence when they saw Divyashini Roy standing near the door.
Divyashini walked inside the room, with joined hands and teary eyes. Ishita and Naira looked at her in confusion.
" I'm sorry beta." Divyashini said as she stood infront of Ishita.
"Are you feeling sorry right now? Didn't it happen too soon,aunty? If your son loves someone else then what was the need for this alliance?" Naira said sternly, she knows that was not the way to talk with adults but her anger overpowered her every emotion and manner at that time.
What is their compulsion that they are spoiling her sister's life? Marrying her son to her sister, when he is clearly in love with someone else.
"I know I made a big mistake...I just want to see my son happy." Divyashini said as more tears rolled down from her eyes.
