The King and Queen were determined to make Prince Edward fall in love with Princess Isabella, and they would stop at nothing to achieve their goal. Despite their son's obvious disinterest, they convinced themselves that the princess's charms would eventually win him over.
To that end, they decided to keep Princess Isabella in a royal room, surrounded by luxury and opulence, in the hopes that her presence would eventually wear down Prince Edward's defenses. They reasoned that if he was constantly surrounded by her beauty and grace, he would eventually come to see her in a different light.
So, Princess Isabella was installed in a lavish suite of rooms, complete with velvet drapes, golden furnishings, and a stunning view of the palace gardens. She was treated like a queen, with servants attending to her every need and a constant supply of delicious food and drink.
But despite the luxurious surroundings, Princess Isabella was far from happy. She had been brought to the palace against her will, and she was determined to make her displeasure known.
At first, she tried to reason with the King and Queen, explaining that she had no desire to marry Prince Edward and that she longed to return to her own kingdom. But they were deaf to her pleas, convinced that she was simply playing hard to get.
As the days turned into weeks, Princess Isabella grew more and more desperate. She was a prisoner in the palace, with no freedom to come or go as she pleased. She was forced to attend endless balls and banquets, where she was paraded in front of Prince Edward like a prized possession.
But the prince remained unmoved, his heart still belonging to Sarah. He was polite and courteous to Princess Isabella, but it was clear that he had no romantic interest in her.
Despite this, the King and Queen refused to give up. They were convinced that their son would eventually come around, and they were determined to do whatever it took to make that happen.
As the weeks turned into months, Princess Isabella grew more and more despondent. She was trapped in a life she didn't want, with no escape in sight. She began to wonder if she would ever be able to return to her own kingdom, or if she would be stuck in the palace forever.
One day, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She could no longer bear the thought of being a prisoner in the palace, and she was determined to find a way out.
So, she began to secretly explore the palace, searching for a way to escape. She snuck past guards and servants, making her way through hidden corridors and secret passages.
Finally, after weeks of searching, she found a way out. A small door hidden behind a tapestry led to a narrow stairway, which in turn led to the palace gardens.
Princess Isabella's heart raced as she made her way down the stairs, her mind filled with thoughts of freedom. She had done it – she had finally escaped the palace.
But as she reached the bottom of the stairs, she was confronted by a figure she had not expected. Prince Edward stood before her, a look of surprise on his face.
"Where are you going, Princess?" he asked, his voice firm but gentle.
Princess Isabella hesitated, unsure of what to say. She had not expected to be caught, and she was not sure how to react.
But then, something unexpected happened. Prince Edward smiled, and his eyes crinkled at the corners.
"I think I know," he said. "You're trying to escape."
Princess Isabella nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She had been caught, but at least she had been caught by someone who understood.
"Yes," she said. "I can't bear the thought of being trapped in the palace any longer."
Prince Edward nodded sympathetically. "I know how you feel," he said. "But you can't escape. Not yet, at least."
Princess Isabella's heart sank. She had been so sure that she had finally found a way out.
But then, Prince Edward's expression changed. His eyes sparkled with mischief, and his voice dropped to a whisper.
"Unless," he said. "Unless you're willing to take a risk."
Princess Isabella's heart raced as she wondered what he had in mind. Was he offering her a way out, or was he just playing with her?
She decided to take a chance. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Prince Edward grinned, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Come with me," he said. "And I'll show you."
