The next day, [Name] was walking with Abbie and Lana to school like usual. They could tell the two were anxious to go back, and for good reason. While no bystanders had witnessed their deaths like with Claire's, there was a chance Miss Circle wouldn't be too happy with their return. Besides, the idea of dead students coming back to life was pretty outlandish.
As the establishment drew closer in the three's eyes, they heard a familiar voice call out to them. It was Claire, running up to stand next to [Name]. "Can I walk in with you guys?" She requested, clearly as nervous as the other two. Her words were met with affirmative nods from the trio, and she sighed with relief. "Thanks, I just really didn't want to walk in alone," she admitted.
The now four of them approached the double doors to enter the school. [Name] took the lead, with Lana, Abbie, and Claire trailing behind. The reaction when they entered wasn't too bad, but some were staring at Claire like they had seen a ghost. It was an understandable reaction, considering the traumatic sight that her corpse had surely been.
Claire tried to avert her gaze from the few baffled onlookers, wishing for things to just go back to normal. While lost in her own mind, a gentle hand placing itself on her shoulder snapped her out of it. When she looked up, she was met with [Name] looking at her with concern evident in their eyes. "You alright?" they checked, hoping that the answer would be an honest 'yes' but expecting the opposite to be true.
"I'll be alright," Claire assured, a weak smile forming on her lips. They knew that it was more directed towards herself than them, so they just left it alone. Lana had to depart from the group to go to art class, leaving just the three of them. They approached their next class, which unfortunately was Miss Circle's.
As they went in and sat down beside each other, they pretended to not notice the incredulous stares locked on Claire. Those stares belonged to Oliver, Zip, and Edward. While the latter of those three wasn't involved in the prank they had pulled on the poor girl regarding Alice's door, he knew the outcome of the cruel joke.
[Name] attempted striking up a conversation with the other three to ease the anxiety that had amplified because of all the staring towards a certain table member. It worked, with Claire chiming in soon enough. Abbie didn't speak too much, he was more keen on listening.
They continued like this until Miss Circle entered to begin the class. Her gaze instantly caught on the table filled with newly revived students, eyes widening momentarily before her face changed back to its neutral disposition.
Class went on as it normally would, and soon the table member's stress melted away bit by bit. It didn't seem like the day would go so badly after all. Even though Claire was a bit upset that Engel hadn't shown up today, she figured he'd be there tomorrow. She wanted to inform him that she was okay, or as okay as she could be given the situation. At the very least, she was alive.
When lunch came around, Claire sat with [Name], Abbie, and Lana. It was a rather tranquil time, if a certain trio's observing of them wasn't taken into account. "Maybe you guys imagined it?" Edward offered to the other two in regard to Claire's death. There had to be a rational explanation for this, he thought. "No, we definitely didn't. Have you seen how the teachers have been looking at her today? Also, Alice told me that she had definitely killed her," Oliver explained.
"Miss Circle was looking at Abbie the same way. Maybe he has something to with it," Zip commented, eyeing the timid boy with suspicion gleaming in her eyes. It was the most interesting thing to happen in this school in quite a while, of course the three were going to be interested. People coming back from the dead wasn't an everyday occurrence, either, so that was another subject of interest for the three. They wanted to know how it had happened. Not to use themselves, but rather just out of bored curiosity.
They had devised a plan to corner Abbie and question him until he finally broke and spilled the information on how his revival had occurred. They got the opportunity when [Name], Lana, and Claire all had a different class than he did. They jumped at the chance they were given, following close behind him.
"Hey Abbie!" Zip called, making the boy freeze. The three walked in front of him, partially obstructing his path. "We have a few questions for you," Edward informed, studying Abbie's obviously anxious demeanor. "What about?" he asked, looking like he could bolt at any minute.
His words seemingly opened a floodgate, and he was instantly bombarded with questions. "Why was Miss Circle looking at you like that?" "Do you know why Claire isn't dead?" "Do you have anything to do with it?" As he was drowned by more and more of their words, his 'deer in headlights' look only intensified.
Abbie knew that he couldn't give [Name]'s ability away. These three picked on people relentlessly, and even if they didn't, they were still teacher's pets. That wasn't even mentioning how they were the favorites of Miss Circle, who was probably the number one teacher that they didn't want to know [Name]'s secret.
"I, uh.. I can't tell you, sorry!" Abbie finally interrupted, breaking out into a sprint towards his next class. '"I can't tell you"? What was that, Abigail?! Now they know that you know something!' He proceeded to mentally scold himself all the way to the classroom.
The trio watched him leave, disappointed with the lack of answers received. "Well that was pointless," Edward observed. "Yeah, but I guess it's our fault for approaching Abbie of all people," Zip mentioned. "We can try again later, or just ask one of the others," Oliver shrugged. They all left soon after, plotting who to relentlessly question next.
