I practically yanked the needle out of Veronica's arm. I turned to Whiteout, who'd stabbed Veronica with the needle.

"What was that for!" I cried.

"She was getting hostile. And anyway, we need her asleep for the next test. She'll be fine in a couple of hours." replied Whiteout.

"Are you sure?" I murmured.

"Why do you care so much?" asked Whiteout. "It's just an experiment. She's fine."

I stared at Whiteout in shock and dismay. "She is not fine!" I yelled, "No one here is! Sticks have died here!"

"Survival of the fittest." Whiteout murmured. I was speechless.

"...You're f*cking insane." I managed after a moment. Whiteout glared at me.

"No I'm not. Nothing's hurting anyone."

"YOU USED HER TO KILL A KID!" I screamed.

Whiteout stopped. "How do you know about that."

I glare at them. "You act like I wasn't in the observation room while it happened."

Whiteout muttered something before saying, "Come on. Get her to the test tube. I don't wanna be fired."

"Do it yourself." I murmured, "I don't want any part in this anymore."

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I didn't want to watch, but I had to because someone else called in sick. I hate my job. Veronica floated, unconscious, in the test tube. The pink liquid surrounding her practically corresponded to her color.

"Shock her again." demanded Whiteout, "More intense this time." A glow of electricity encased Veronica for a moment. Nothing happened. "More intense."

Another glow lit up the test tube. Still, nothing happened. What were they even trying to do at this point?

It was the same pattern for an hour. Shock, nothing. Shock harder, nothing. The shocks did nothing to disturb the sleeping figure inside.

Not until the test tube exploded.
