Kamashi:A 2016 study suggested that the extinct straight-tusked elephant Palaeoloxodon, which lived some 700,000–50,000 years ago, surpassed Paraceratherium in size with weight up to 22 tonnes (24.3 tons) and shoulder height of 4.5 m (14 ft 9 in).
