The weather was freezing at this time in Paris. Since it was the middle of winter in January.
We got into a luxurious limousine and took off to our unknown destination. (Which is about to become known when I let my tongue loose right now).
Until this moment, I didn't bother asking Noah where we were headed. But, my curiosity got the best of me.
"So, where are we going? Is it another fundraiser of Molly's? or is it an elite wedding party? Or is it a ..." I was speaking out loud. Or in other words mumbling.
"I like your wild imagination. But I'm sorry to say that where we're headed right now isn't any one of those options you just put on the table." He said calmly.
"Then what is it?".
"Well, as a matter of a fact we are headed to private party that is being hosted by the company that is also upholding the private exhibition for the three tears of time".
At that point I was in utter shock. I didn't know how to react to this marvelous news. And apparently I was in that state for way too long. Because when I opened up my mouth to rain down questions on Noah regarding everything that's going to happen, the car stopped. And the driver got out and opened the door for us. Helping Noah first then helping me out of the limo. I stood up staring at an amazing building. With pitch black polished stairs and walls. crystal clear floor to ceiling windows. And more interesting than that, the dozen black identical limo's parked around us.
The first thing we encountered on our way inside were two heavily armed men dressed in identical sharp suites.
"Invitations." Said the man on the right bluntly. He extended a meaty palm waiting for one of us to give him anything.
Noah pulled out two pieces of paper from his coat pocket and handed them to the man. His colleague as if on cue took out a small machine that I saw security personnel use when they're checking for metal objects like for example guns.
When the man approached Noah I saw a nerve in his neck tense. Although, I don't know why should he tense. It's not like he's carrying a silenced pistol or a gun off some sort. Even if he was carrying one( was which is outrageously absurd ) I sure would have noticed! It's not like there's anywhere he could hide a gun in his coat or even his suit jacket.
The device didn't peep which apparently was a good sigh. And which also meant that I was up next. The man came way closer than I preferred I didn't only feel the device's waves go up and down my body but I also felt the man's eyes do the same.
"I don't think you'll find anything even if you move that thing up and down a million times. Am I right?" I heard Noah's voice. But it wasn't the silky one he uses with anyone nor the sweet one he uses with me. It was a different tone, a tone that carried a hint of hostility and warning. And apparently the guard sensed the same thing and backed off.
I let out the breath I was holding (I didn't realize I was holding one in the first place).
The first guy gave us our invitations back and we walked through two huge glass door into a different world.
The first thing I thought of when we walked in the reception is to thank god for the invention of central heating. The woman on the reception desk was busy typing something on tablet while simultaneously talking on the phone.
We waited until she hung up and then, Noah spoke.
"We are here for the private exhibition. I think it's already started."
The receptionist lifted her eyes form her tablet and made a quick assessment of both of us. Her eyes passed over me like I wasn't there and focused on Noah instead.
