Under a sky streaked with stars, the entire Elysian Pack gathered in the serene garden, their expressions tense as they awaited the unsettling truths Aera and Min-jee were about to reveal. The night air was cool and clear, contrasting sharply with the troubled looks of each pack member.
JB, surveying the group, asked, "Has Hyunjin fallen asleep?"
Youngjae and Yugyeom, returning after ensuring Hyunjin was resting, nodded. "Yes, he's sleeping," Youngjae confirmed. "I've placed wards outside his door for protection and tranquility. He needs to have a peaceful night, at least."
Jackson, attempting to ease the tension, smiled and said, "That went easier than expected. I thought it would be hard to earn Jinnie's trust."
Jinyoung's face grew serious as he countered, "I'm not so sure, Jackson. It's worrisome, actually. He accepted everything too quickly. It doesn't feel like trust; it's more like resignation, and that's not what we want."
BamBam nodded thoughtfully, concern etched on his face. "He hasn't really questioned us or shown any real resistance. It's like he's just going through the motions."
Sensing the gravity of the situation escalating with each exchange, JB turned to Aera and Min-jee, his expression tense. "Why the urgency for this meeting? Couldn't it have waited till morning?"
Aera glanced at Min-jee, and the two shared a grim expression. Taking a deep breath, Aera spoke, her voice burdened with sorrow. "This couldn't wait because Hyunjin's situation is far more precarious than you realize. His acceptance of your protection isn't trust; it's desperation. We called this meeting to reveal exactly what happened—something that's both painful and urgent."
JB with tension in his voice said, "I've been wanting to ask, to understand, but I couldn't find the right moment. What happened to Hyunjin? You only left a message saying 'It's time' without details."
Min-jee took a steadying breath, her voice somber. "It started with a fire, set by the townspeople out of fear and misunderstanding. Hyunjin's house was engulfed in flames, and in the chaos, Aura was trapped inside."
Aera continued, tears glistening in her eyes as she recounted the nightmare. "Driven by desperation to save Aura, Hyunjin rushed into the flames. In that moment of agony and fear, his magic erupted uncontrollably. His panic and despair twisted his power, and in his rage and sense of injustice, he cursed Moonhaven and the Lunaris Pack."
Mark interjected, his voice heavy with concern, "That's awful... To think his powers were triggered by such trauma."
JB clenched his fists, his rage barely contained. "And the curse that followed—it was directly because of this traumatic awakening?"
Min-jee leaned forward, her tone intense. "Yes. In his desperation to save Aura, Hyunjin's magic erupted like a storm, not with a gentle awakening but with a violent force. This storm became a curse that now threatens to tear apart what each in Moonhaven holds dear."
Mark looked between the seers, worry deepening on his face. "So his willingness to comply isn't trust—it's a sign of how close he is to the edge?"
Aera nodded, "Exactly. That's why we had to meet tonight, despite the calm skies above. A storm is brewing around Hyunjin, and we need to prepare for it."
JB's voice broke the silence. "And the Lunaris Pack? How do they fit into this?"
Aera wiped away a tear and said, "They came as supposed protectors, investigating rogue attacks. But once they discovered Hyunjin's heritage, they turned on him. Instead of shielding him, they let their biases and fears blind them."
