Harper Bennett never wanted to move to America. She hated the idea even more when the move was made. In fact, she thrashed and screamed as her parents tried to drag her to the car to head to the airport. Was she too old to throw a tantrum? Maybe. But it didn't stop her. She missed the beaches of Australia, those white sandy beaches. She missed surfing every morning, the salt water spraying in her face, the sensation of being alone for more than an hour out in nature. But never the less, her parents packed their shit up and hightailed it out of Brisbane, to move to the dull suburbs of El Sereno, Los Angeles, California when she was 13 years old.

She hated America even more when the apocalypse started. She was staying at her boyfriend, Nick's house when it all started, taking care of him as he went through opiate withdrawal. This had become a regular occurrence since his father died, and Harper was the crutch Nick leaned on every time.

Since staying at the Thomas residence, Harper hadn't seen Nick for weeks. Harper, Madison, Alicia and Strand had been staying at the hotel together, the three women picking up the pieces of their heartbreak of Nick leaving them because of that bitch of a woman's crazy ideas she had planted in his head.

Harper loved Nick. Well at least, she thought she loved him. She loved the way he made her feel when things were good, but it had gotten to the point where she was tired. She was tired of running, and she was tired of picking up the pieces of everyone else's emotions. She wanted to be able to feel again. She needed to be able to feel again. She knew the same love for Nick was in there somewhere, she just needed to settle down with him, in one consistent place. And now she was angrier than ever at Nick for leaving her, once again, to pick up the mess he made of the Clark family that he created by leaving, even though, once again, he promised it would never happen again.
