Nineteen ~ Family Matters

I can't wait to show you where I grew up
Walk you 'round the foothills of my town

We had a twenty four hour layover in my home town, so we decided to have lunch with my family and have dinner with some of my old friends from high school. My family know about Randy and know we are engaged but they haven't met him due to how busy we have been these past two years. This was the perfect opportunity before the wedding. When we landed my brother was there to pick us up. He was standing outside his car, Randy immediately walked up to him shaking his hand and introducing his self.

After hearing all the stories I've been telling
you for six months now

"Randy, I'm Chris. Hey sis" he said bringing me in for a hug

"Hey bub!" I said returning the hug

"Nice to meet you Chris" Randy said with a smile

"Mom's been cooking all morning!" Chris laughed

"Of course, that's mom for ya" I said giggling

Randy smiled as we got in to the car. The traffic in this city was always crazy so we just sat in the back and relaxed waiting to get to my childhood home.

We'll probably have to sleep in separate bedrooms
Pack a shirt for church, because we'll go

We pulled in to the driveway and took a deep breath. This started out as a small lunch but my family is a bit crazy and they wanted to meet Randy so everybody came. This included my Nana, my mom and dad, all my siblings, my aunt and uncle and my other grandparents. We got to the front door and I grabbed the door knob, not prepared for what waiting on the other side.

I'm not trying to scare you off, but I just thought we should talk

My mom greeted us immediately.

"Hi my lovely daughter!" She said bringing me in for a bear hug.

"Hi mom." I smiled

"Follow me, I'll show you your rooms." She said and she walked through the house.

"Y/N of course, you can have your old room." She smiled opening the door revealing a nice guest room.

"And Randy you can take the other guest room right here." She said turning and opening the door next to my door.

My parents were strict and me and Randy weren't married yet so if we were staying under their roof we couldn't sleep in the same room.

A few things out before we hit the road
If I bring you home to mama

"Thank you Mrs. Y/L/N" Randy said with a smile

"Oh please call me Sherry" my mom smiled

I quickly went in to my room and placed my bags down before returning to the hallway and waited for Randy to come out of his room. We walked to the dining room to find everyone there sitting and talking. When we entered the room, people started to turn and look at us and started to go quiet before they started coming up one by one to meet Randy.

"Randy this is my nana, nana this is Randy."

"Randy this is my dad, dad this is Randy"

And so on. Finally everyone got to meet Randy and we got to sit down.

She falls in love a little faster than I do

Momma had cooked a full course meal for just lunch but I didn't mine, mommas cooking was always the best. After thirty minutes or so my mom finally finished cooking and placed the last dish on the table.
