The Official Rules linked here shall prevail in the event of any disputes or discrepancies between a) this version of the website, b) the English language version of the website, and c) the Official Rules.
You must be at least 13 years old to participate in the Wattys. If you are under 18, your parent or legal guardian needs to give you written permission to enter the Wattys and to claim any prizes if your story wins.
By entering a story into the Wattys by completing the submission form, you agree that you are submitting an original work written by you and that you own all rights to the story(s).
We will immediately disqualify those who submit works that infringe on copyright or any rights of other people. Wattpad does not tolerate plagiarism or copyright infringement.
Wattpad wants to make it clear that any story you submit to the Wattys remains 100% yours. We get only the rights outlined below:
Wattpad's Rights in All Submitted Stories
In submitting your story to the Wattys, you permit Wattpad to (permanently and free of charge):
Post no more than 30% of one chapter of the story on the landing page of the Wattys website
Feature your story on Wattpad's platform (website and mobile) and across all Wattpad's social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.) for any purpose connected to the Wattys
Upon being included in the Shortlist and/or in accepting a prize, you agree that Wattpad may, permanently and free of charge:
Take excerpts of the story to create and distribute promotional materials, both for the story and the Wattys
Post no more than one chapter of the story anywhere on the Wattys website.
Feature your story on Wattpad's platform (website and mobile) and across all of Wattpad's social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc.)
Use your name and likeness for promotional purposes related to the Wattys;
Permit partners to do what Wattpad is allowed to do under this section.
