On a sunny day in New York, a teen wakes up. Now, this is the story of a guy named Jermaine and how he saved the world with the help of the dragons in training and finally joined them.
Jermaine throws on his favorite jersey. Today is the first day of summer. He doesn't really know what he should do, but he hopes he gets to visit his friend omi. He hasn't seen him or the others since they had to rebuild the temple after Kabaneri attacked. He runs downstairs to his family's restaurant.
"Hey mom, I'm going out!" His mom, who is helping his little sister, clean a table smiles.
"Okay, sweetie, just be home by 6."
Before Jermaine can open the door, he is stopped by his dad.
"Hey, while you are out, can you deliver this to miss, Anderson." He says, handing him a box of cookies.
"They are to thank her for babysitting your sis."
"Yeah, I can do that, dad." Jermaine puts the box in his bag before going outside. As he runs down the street, he can't help but feel like today is going to be awesome.
~at the temple~
Jack is lying on the ground, bruised clearly not that hurt, just more annoyed.
"It's not fair." He groans as the others surround him.
"Sorry kid, but hey, not many dragons in training get help from their elemental dragons." Dojo says, patting his head.
"But why tease me with all that power." Jack cries in frustration.
"Don't worry, Jack, you will eventually be that powerful again. You just have to train and work for it!" Omi says happily as the others just giggle a little.
"I don't want to work for it."
Master Fung comes out clearly ready to go into his lecture of the day. Things at the temple have been a little different at the temple since Jack joined, but not by much. While rebuilding and fixing stuff, they were able to add another bed in the sleeping quarters. Jack was, and still annoyed when he found out he couldn't do all that cool stuff from the fight against Kabaneri anymore, being back to just being able to make weapons quickly and shields out of metal. The five teens sit down together, ready for the lesson of the day.
"Can anyone tell me what is the best way to stop an enemy without killing them." Master fung asks, pouring some tea in his cup.
"Trap them somewhere?" Raimundo says, wondering where this lesson is going today, as he twiddle his thumbs.
"No."
"Fight them until they can't fight anymore." Omi says with a smile full of confidence, so sure he is right.
"Not quite."
"Use magic to turn them into something like a cat and keep them as a pet?" Jack says, pretty sure he is wrong, as he sits, feeling bored already.
"I don't even want to know how you thought that, but no." He looks at them all, feeling a little disappointed but knowing that they are all still learning.
"You make the one who is your enemy, your friend." They all look at him confused.
"Oh my God, that was like the most basic answer ever." Kimiko says, shocked that for once, it was a simple answer. He tries to explain, but at this point, no one is listening. With everyone focused on something else, Kimiko checking her nails, Clay petting biscuit who is sleeping, Raimundo playing with Jack's hair while he is laying against Raimundo, and Omi is watching a butterfly
Master Fung notices all this letting out a cough to get everyone's attention."Sorry, what were you saying?" Clay looks up embarrassed, covering his mouth with his fist.
"Like I was saying, not everyone needs to be defeated with violence. Some just are people who are lost." Raimundo ends up interrupting,
"Sorry dude, but why does this matter? No offense, but how often do we have to save the day, I mean, just two months ago, we were saving the world." Rai explains, making Master Fung signs.
"You five will eventually understand, but right now, you guys need to learn to see stuff from a different angle. Just go start training for today. I'll be meditating if you need me." He goes to leave but before he grabs Dojo.
"How did Jack get hurt? Training didn't even start."
"He tried to see if adrenaline would let him be able to make a hand out of metal, so he jumped off the roof." Fung just looks at Jack with worry and confusion.
"Don't let him do that."
"I know."
~Back to New York~
Jermaine goes up some stairs to a door. After knocking, a sweet old lady with a walker opened the door.
"Oh, is that you, Jermaine?" She says, messing with her glasses.
"Yeah, my dad sent me to give you some cookies to say thanks for watching Iesha." He says, giving the box.
"Oh, thank you she is such a lovely girl. Come inside, you look like you could use some lemonade." She says, walking away from the door.
"Thanks, miss, Anderson!" He says happily coming in. He loves looking at her stuff, having some real cool stuff on the walls like a katana. He looks at the pictures and old artifacts as Miss Anderson gets some lemonade from the kitchen. As he looked, he noticed something new, an old looking map.
As she comes back holding the pitcher of lemonade, Jermaine asks about the map.
"Oh, that thing. Well, you know how I love collecting. I found that one in a storage room bidding war. Some sucker did pay rent and never showed up, so I won his stuff. I actually found something in there I thought you like." She says goes over to a box, her walker squeaking with every step.
"Now, where is it? Ah ha!" She pulls out what looks like some wood carved into the shade of a big egg.
"If you hold it, you can feel something moving inside." She says, handing it to him, and just like she said, it feels like something is moving inside.
"Cool." He says quietly in amazement.
Now, while the boy didn't really know what he was holding in two different places, something was happening.
Dojo was lying down on top of Biscuit when all of a sudden, he felt a big shift in the balance of good and evil.
And somewhere else, a cave covered with a big rock, that rock slowly gets moved and a lady with white hair and red eyes steps out. She is wearing armor covered in dragon scales.
