As soon as Atrius had handed him over, something sharp had stuck into Jasper's arm and he was out. The feeling of betrayal as Atrius had grabbed him and given him up had hurt more than he thought it would have. He barely knew Atrius, yet he had trusted him completely and had felt safe with him. Until they came in his room and Atrius grabbed him like it. The large man's grip on Jasper had hurt and he'd struggled, panicking and fearful of the alien that had been waiting for him.

Atrius's half-promise that he'd be going back to them hadn't felt real and it only furthered Jasper's terror of what was to come. Now he was waking, strapped to another table in a barren, sterile room that smelled of disinfectants and chemicals. He no longer wore the shorts and socks he'd had before, but instead a plain white paper-like gown covered him. He couldn't bring himself to feel any other emotions and closed his eyes again, ready to just give up.

A door opened and he could hear the sound of someone entering, but he really didn't want to see who it was. If it wasn't Atrius coming back to get him and apologize or Pax then he didn't care. He just wanted to go home. Was that too much to ask for?

"Jasper," the voice was cold and monotone. "Dr. Frost did good with your procedures. Luckily for you, I'm here to continue those studies."

He didn't like the sound of that and when cold fingers grabbed his foot his eyes shot open and he tried to recoil from the touch, but he couldn't. The extremely tall and skinny being that stared at him was nearly repulsive for Jasper to look at. It was almost like looking at a walking, breathing skeleton. It's stone gray skin appeared stretched over the thing's bones and two large dark stone gray wings fanned out behind him. He smiled at Jasper with large snake-like fangs, his three forward facing eyes zeroed in on Jasper's face.

"Don't worry though, I'll keep you asleep for most of it," The thing spoke, trailing his fingers along Jasper's body as he moved up to his head. "You are very small though. Much, much tinier than the Glain humans I'm used to working with. Don't be sad if you don't wake up,"

His tone was mocking and he sneered at Jasper before injecting something into Jasper's neck and darkness swallowed him before he could scream in pain.

Jasper woke with a gasp. He shot up to a sitting position. His skin felt like it was crawling with ants and he was shivering, the freezing water he was sitting in feeling as if it was biting into his skin. The room was dark and he couldn't see anything, but he also couldn't stand up. He couldn't get his limbs to work right and his thoughts were slow and muddled. The only thing that came through clearly was the sound of ticking coming from somewhere behind him and then a hiss as a dull orange light filled the room.

"Jasper," The same voice as before called out in a sing-song voice. "How's your little ice bath feeling? Is it making you feel . . . Alive?"

The face of the man was suddenly in front of Jasper's face and he screamed. His body jolted from the water and he scrambled to get out of the tub, but there was something attached to his ankles, keeping him from escaping over the side of the tub. There was a horrible laughter from the man that made his gut twist in fear and then hands grabbing his shoulders, yanking him back and pushing him underneath the water. He pushed against the bottom of the tub, panic flaring in his mind, but everything felt slow to him and he couldn't properly get his arms or legs underneath him. The sound of mocking laughter was the only thing that peirced through the water, feeling him with a sense of dread. How was this apart of any sort of testing?

His lungs burned and right before he felt like he was going to give up struggling, he was being pulled from the water and pinned to the side of the tub. Those neon blue eyes stared at him like they were enjoying this. "Proper testing of your species requires me to document just how many extremes you can survive," The alien seemed like he was purring and the smile on his face would give Jasper nightmares.
