"So what you're just going to let him live here now?"
Tony hadn't even fully entered the living area after showing Loki to his room, when Clint started to verbally attack him. "What do you want me to do? Go tell the all daddy that I don't give a shit about what he wants and to take him back?" Tony yelled back. "Because I'm sure if he gave a shit, he would have asked us first."
Clint just huffed at the response. Tony was right, they were stuck with him, but that didn't mean he had to like it.
"I've put him in the spare bedroom at the end of the hall. I figured that way he wasn't sleeping right next to someone but if he wanted to leave his room he'd have to walk past your rooms." He said to Clint and Natasha.
Natasha nodded in appreciation but Clint just looked confused. "My room?" he questioned.
"Yeah your room. I presume when you do decide to stay here, that you will want a room. So you can have the room next to the one that little red riding hood decided to claim."
Nat raised an eyebrow in slight amusement.
"Um... thanks." Clint was a little taken aback by the kind gesture. "So... he's in his room now?"
"Yep."
"Right."
"Well, I'm gonna hit the sack, it's late."
"Hey before you go Stark. I'm gonna stick around here for a while, just to keep an eye on things," Cap said.
"Yeah sure why not, I'm running a hotel now anyway, would you like a complimentary late check out?"
That earned an amused shake of the head Steve and a tired chuckle from Bruce.
"You can help yourself to one the rooms next to Bruce's if you like. Anyway night people."
Tony walked towards the elevator and took it to the penthouse level where he resides. The others all said their good nights and went to their respective rooms. They all had a lot to process.
When morning came Tony went down to the common floor kitchen so see if anyone had cooked anything for breakfast. His hopeful wishes came true as he saw Steve cooking up some pancakes. Nat and Clint were sitting at the bench eating any pancakes that came their way and Bruce was sitting at the dinning table contently nibbling at his short stack whilst reading the daily newspaper on a Starkpad.
"Ooo yum, can you send a few over my way Cap?" Tony asked as he took a seat opposite Bruce.
"Yeah sure." Even though his voice was even, the look on his face indicated that he was actually quite proud that people were appreciating his cooking. When he had finished cooking all the pancakes he brought over the plate for Tony, and placed it in front of him. As he placed the plate down he asked, "do you think Loki will want some?"
"How should I know?" Tony said, his voice muffled by the food he immediately stuffed into his mouth.
Steve seemed annoyed by that answer so instead he tilted his head to the ceiling and asked, "hey Jarvis, do you think Loki would like some breakfast."
"I do not think so sir. He is currently still asleep."
"Wait, do you have cameras in the bedrooms?" Nat asked twisting around in her chair to look at Tony.
Tony swallowed his mouthful of food then replied, "I have cameras in nearly every room for security purposes, but I turn them off when the rooms are being occupied for privacy reasons of course. But considering Loki is a security risk, his room's cameras are staying on."
"Maybe I should ask if he's hungry," Steve thought out loud.
"I wouldn't Cap. The guy's homicidal enough without you waking him up from his beauty sleep," Clint replied.
Steve seemed a little conflicted and as though he were about to argue his point when Tony spoke up and said, "leave the diva be. If he gets hungry I'm sure Mr you should kneel before me, will let us know."
Steve hesitated but then conceded, "alright then."
"I'm starving, what's for dinner?" Tony asked obnoxiously loud as he entered the living area on the common floor.
"It's your tower and we're your guests, so shouldn't we be asking you that," Clint snarked back.
"Well no, you're not guests because other than Bruce, you all invited yourselves to stay in my home. So if you're not cooking then I'm going back to the lab."
"Ughhh, how about grilled cheese sandwiches, it's the only thing I can be bothered making right now."
"Fine by be," Tony said.
"I'll take one too," Nat chirped up from the corner seat of the couch she was sitting in whilst playing on her phone.
"What's going on?" Steve asked as he entered the room.
Clint sighed. "I guess I'll just make some for everyone then." He stood up from the couch and headed for the kitchen.
Steve followed. "What are you making? Anything I can help with?"
"Yeah actually that'd be great. I'm just making grilled cheese sandwiches but it would be heaps quicker if we did it together."
"Sure no problem."
Once everyone had a sandwich in front of them, Steve asked Jarvis, "hey Jarvis, can you ask Loki if he wants to eat something."
"Loki is still asleep sir."
Clint huffed, "still? It's 7pm, how lazy is that guy?"
Steve made eye contact with Bruce, who seemed to share Steve's confused and slightly concerned facial expression, but didn't comment.
Light hearted small talk took over the rest of dinner until people retreated to their own spaces to wind down for the day. Steve had offered to do the dishes and as he grabbed a tea towel to dry off a few things, because he couldn't figure out how the dishwasher worked so he had to hand wash everything, and Bruce took a seat at the bench opposite him.
"Do you think we should check on Loki?" Bruce asked almost timidly, as though he weren't sure if he even wanted to ask the question.
Steve let out a small exhale, "I feel like we should. I get the guys probably exhausted but he hasn't eaten anything."
"I wander when the last time he ate was? I mean he was still in his armour when he arrived, so I'm guessing the whole space time thing meant that it had only been a few hours since the battle for him. I wander if he's even eaten since arriving on Earth. He was pretty busy since the moment he got here and I don't think we offered anything to him when he was in the cell."
"Hmmm. I guess that's an even bigger reason to check in on him. Alright I'll just finish drying these dishes off then we can check on him." It was a statement but Steve said it more as a question. He didn't want to force Bruce to interact with Loki if he was uncomfortable. Bruce just nodded in response and Steve continued to dry off the dishes.
