Gleam and Smoke

Silently fractals float in frozen air,
Yet yonder gleam and smoke doth chidst watchers,
A story lies in untold ripples here,
Ever unknown lest words freed from coffers.

The shrift this place presents to all who look,
Is written in blood drops upon the white,
Snow and bone lying in the shaded nook,
A colored discourse fading with dusk light.

Ere the novice of the road, wooed by speed,
In noise and light lost all with red, red blood,
There was silent snow lacking want or need,
Onwards til the bursting of spring's first bud.

And whence in future year a coz begs forth,
Do hand over those keys, life has more worth.
