In a matter of hours, I was standing outside the ball with a gun strapped to my thigh underneath my dress. Aaron's instructions were clear, "Kill or be killed." Eric and I had advised a plan that if Aaron had managed to get to me before the ball to meet in a discrete location of the ball no one, even Aaron knows where to look. This year the ball is at a mansion that Eric's company had bought, fixed, and sold in the upper millions, the owners allowed the ball to be hosted at the mansion as a thank-you for making their dream home a reality.

Aaron had told me to meet him in the ballroom at 9 pm, it was only 8, he wanted to separate to look for Eric. I don't know if Aaron believes I still love him and care enough to help him be safe, that would've been the case six months ago, but today I couldn't care less if any number of the men in the room wanted to kill him. I went to the library after we separated and unlocked the only thing that didn't get changed during the renovations. A bookcase that sat against the far left wall, I pulled the headstone back and walked through the door. Before I could turn the light on I was embraced in a hug and picked up leaving the heels on my feet to dangle.

"I am so sorry." It was Eric, "Why are you apologizing? It's not like you could've known he kidnapped me." I placed my hands on my hips, "Actually I did because I followed him, I didn't go down to the bar for a drink." I threw my hands up in the air, "Of course, you didn't so you didn't want to fill me in beforehand?"

"I couldn't risk you knowing, he's so predictable with his movements, after he left to go pick up his suit I snuck in the house to do my research on his plan. He wants you to kill me on the roof because he obviously can't do it himself like he couldn't last time." I just looked at him dumbfounded because I already knew this. "Which you already know got it." I stared at him pondering the one question that would allow me some closure, "What?" he caught me, "Was any of it real?" This time he was silent after the entire week of me giving him the silent treatment now he was quiet? "Never mind." I turned to leave because were going to meet up on the roof at 8:30 to "surprise attack" Eric.

Eric grabbed my wrist, spun me around, and pinned me against the wall with both hands above my head, I looked into his eyes the same way I did that first night we had sex, not backing down and challenging him, except this time not for a one night stand but for a somewhat normal life with me. "At first, no, it was strictly business, I dangled you purposefully in front of him at the restaurant because I knew he was going to be there, even after I put that blindfold around your eyes so you wouldn't see, I knew he'd be there and yes he did watch and I still have no shame about it."

I gulped, that motherfucker let Aaron just wa-, "Even after all of the information I had on him, I knew where he was every minute of every day and I did want the surprise to be perfect for you because that's what you deserve Emma. The more I'm around you the more I want you, and I'm sorry I lied, the farther I kept going the harder I was falling and I couldn't let you go because I didn't want to. When Aaron messaged me saying he was going to kill you, I was already planning every plan possible for that not to happen."

I smiled, even underneath all of the sharp rough edges this man did care about someone other than himself and it was me. I leaned up and kissed him, his hands fumbled down the sides of my dress and hiked it up, "No underwear?" he questioned, "No room with the gun." I smirked as I unbuckled his pants, he picked me up and sat down on the chair leaning against the wall. I was now bouncing on him, he had his hand dug into my back and the other holding my neck. "That's my beautiful girl, I missed your pussy," he started going faster underneath me than I could keep up with. I finally came over him, forgetting all about the lying, killing, and manipulation.

Afterward, I stood up and fixed myself, "I'll see you soon." planted a kiss on his forehead and headed for the roof. I knew one thing when I shut the bookcase behind me, I never loved Aaron the way I love Eric.

I stepped on the roof and met with Aaron, "Did you find him?" He looked menacing, "Of course I did, he was so worried you kidnapped me and wanted to know how I escaped, I told him I knocked you out and to meet me on the roof, just like we talked about." I could feel that Eric was already out here, but like I said I wanted the first shot, 'You know if I had known how good you would've been at this I would've recruited you." He walked to the edge of the roof, I moved my gun from my thigh to my breasts, they weren't big by any means but I manipulated them enough to get easier access to my gun. "Is that so," I pulled it out and aimed at his head.

This was also personal, I will look him in the eyes when I pull the trigger, to know what pain he had caused me is a life for a life since he was so easily persuaded to take mine. He turned his head and planted his forehead against the barrel, "Oh baby you won't shoot me, I love you too much." I steadied myself better, "That's where you're wrong Aaron, your first mistake was letting me hold a gun, you tried to use other people to take Eric out, used a woman against him, and went against your own code of conduct for what? You're nothing but a fucking coward and I could never love someone as heartless as you."

Boom!

I didn't kill him, a gun went off but nothing came out of my barrel, I looked down to see Aaron's lifeless body fall off the roof, where a man appeared and started dragging his lifeless body into the woods. Eric's handler right on time, I turned to see Eric walking towards me, "Sorry Emma, you're not a killer yet, but we can get you there." He winked at me before pulling me in for a kiss, "Now would you like to enjoy the rest of the ball with me?"
