As a young girl, I'd frolic in any forest my parents would take me to, the nature of it fascinated me always, and so did its aura. They'd never let me stay till dark or 'the unimaginable could happen!'- they'd always say, it made me cry every time.

On one specific trip to a forest far from the small town village I lived in, my mother took me to a new forest this time, without my father as he was working. It was a lot more foggier than the rest we had gone to, felt a bit more eerie. But as a young girl, my only thoughts was to explore more, run more into the forest, feel more, which always made my mother have a heart attack. This time though, i went in too far, seeing a cave full of dark, full of matted, black stones with symbols of neon, red light peaking through. I walked closer, being drawn as it said my name in soft, mother-like whispers.

"My mother is calling for me..-" I'd think to myself as i continued to walk closer to the largest stone in the cave, strangely placed the furthest from the rest, but dead straight in the middle, hearing my mums cries as she searched for me further in the forest.

"I need to go..-" my eyes locked on the stone, too drawn to back away now. My hand would arise from my side, my small and youthful fingers finally grazing the red of the rock.. i felt my body levitating for a second, only seeing white as then darkness took over, my body falling to the floor and going unconscious.

|Present|

The night arises once again, my broken window banging against my wooden wall in a rush with the cold wind, the brown cabin door rattling in a frenzy. The air is cold and almost eerie, something about this place when it falls to night fall has scared me since i got here, though the daytime is almost unreal.

I am always so afraid to fall asleep, the same forest haunting me, the same things following me, whispering my name, snapping sticks behind me. Living in this small cottage has changed me since i moved here a few weeks ago and away from my home town, nothing has felt so surreal more then here with its fresh air and calming breeze, even though it is so different when the sun falls behind the mountains-, the winds pick up and the howling of the wolves takes over the forest.

Even though all these cons may frighten someone off as much as they did once i first got here, i had gotten used to it. It's calming now. With my name of Elodie and my age of being quite young yet old enough to be independent and away from my parents, I'd never suppose myself as someone to live in such a place as this in all honesty, even though my childhood speaks for itself.

"Eden awaits-."

"It's calling for you-,"

"Follow through the darkness-,"

"Come forth to the light-."

I'd finally awake, sweat clinging to my pyjamas, as the birds tweet in celebration of the sun rising back up again. I too celebrate the sun coming back, takes me away from those horrid dreams of that damn forest..

The air is fresh again, young and playful as i get up from my extremely comfy bed, my hair in an inhumane way.. it's definitely wash day.

With my hair finally cleaned and dressed in my most usual outfit, shorts, a T-shirt and of course, my adventure boots. Though, don't be fooled, they may look over 50 for a pair of shoes, but we have gone through thick and thin with each other at this point, my babies.

I look out from my broken window, swinging it as it fumbles with no regard of protecting me from people who'd love to break in, thinking of going into the forest today, with my horse of course, Chili, my beautiful, bay mustang.

With that said, i grab two slices of bread and head outside to grab my horse, giving him a slice of bread and throw his bridle on him as i stuff my piece of bread in my mouth like an animal. Not to worry, he has had a hay net with him all day, for as well as frolicking in the front yard, I'm sure he's engulfed himself some grass at that too.

The forest is very green, filled with life and a bit foggy from the storm last night. The birds still tweeting and singing for the sun. Since my childhood, forests were an escape from my little life back at my village, helping me think now as an adult. The snickering from Chili and his hooves bashing into the crisp, mossed ground of the old path through the forest. Nothing matters to me more than moments like this.

Snap-,

I halt Chili, his ears perked up as he heard the snap, I'd look around seeing nothing, calming me and Chili down by giving him pat on the neck and a little kick at the belly to keep him moving. He's not calming down.

Another snap would be heard. This time, Chili would rear, making me fall off him as i had decided to ride without a saddle today.

"Shit."

He'd run off, with a distant neigh as he'd gallop the way we came.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I'd stomp my foot on the dry dirt of the forest floor, Chili leaving me in shock as i tried to dust myself off.

I'd hear two more snaps from behind me. This part of the forest looks quite familiar to me, i know i went to this forest once before when i was younger, but never came back as i had an incident here as my mother would call it. It's darker then it should be, seeming as when i left, the time should only be around eight am, though the sky and the covering of the trees making it seem its around seven pm in autumn. Creepy..

I'd turn my head to the snapping once again. These sticks shouldn't be breaking by themselves now.. should they.

"Eden awaits-."

"It's calling for you-,"

"Follow through the darkness-,"

"Come forth to the light-."

I hear that damn voice again from my dreams. What the fuck is happening right now?!

"Hello??" I'd start to spin, keeping all angles of me covered as id stay cornered near a tree close to the path.

"Please! Who's here with me..!" I'd yell, aching for a response. Eden awaits, its calling for you, follow through the darkness, come forth to the light..

...

Okay fine..-

I'll walk through the darkness..
