Chapter 3: (Scarlet's pov)
As I quickly hurried out of the store, I was standing outside the store, trying to steady my racing heart, if it was just me or those encounters were intentional, I felt a sudden shift in the air, it was still raining.
Glancing up, I saw him emerge from the store, his presence casting a dark shadow over the sidewalk. My breath caught in my throat as I struggled to make sense of the overwhelming sense of déjà vu. Why did he remind me of that guy from before? What was wrong with me?
I got a glimpse of those scenes, when I was sleeping and someone tried to choke me, he reminded me so much of that guy.
But, Before I could gather my thoughts, he approached me, his smile sending a shiver down my spine.
Cashier: Miss,
Scarlet: Ye...yes ?
Cashier: You left your purse and umbrella inside.
He said, his voice calm but tinged with an edge of something I couldn't quite place. I stared at him, my mind racing with fear and confusion.
Scarlet: Thank you.
I managed to stammer, taking the items from his outstretched hand. But as his fingers brushed against mine, a wave of nausea washed over me, and I recoiled instinctively.
His smile widened, and I could see a glint of something dark in his eyes. I was about to walk away be he again called out for me, I stopped on my pace, what now ?
Cashier: Miss.
I turned to look at him.
Scarlet: Ye...yes ?
I keep stuttering in front of him.
Cashier: Be careful out here.
He said, his voice dripping with sinister undertones.
Cashier: You never know what's lurking in the shadows.
With that ominous warning, he turned and disappeared into the store, leaving me standing alone on the rain-soaked sidewalk, trembling with fear and uncertainty. What was his game? And more importantly, why did he seem so familiar, like a ghost from my past come back to haunt me?
As I walked home, lost in my thoughts about the unsettling encounter with Kim Taehyung, a sudden movement caught my eye. A small puppy was wandering into the street, oblivious to the approaching danger. The sound of a vehicle approaching fast filled the air, and without thinking, I sprinted towards the puppy.
In a desperate bid to save it, I scooped the puppy into my arms and jumped out of the car's path, landing hard on the ground. Pain shot through my hand as I hit the pavement, but I clung tightly to the frightened puppy, grateful that it was safe.
Breathing heavily, I sat up and checked the puppy for injuries. It was unharmed, though trembling with fear. My own hand, however, throbbed with pain, and I could see a bruise starting to form. Despite the discomfort, I felt a sense of relief and a strange satisfaction at having saved the little creature.
Cradling the trembling puppy in my arms, I knew I had to get my hand checked out. The pain was becoming more intense, and I didn't want to risk it being something serious. I made my way towards the nearest hospital, my pace quickening despite the throbbing in my hand and the occasional wince of pain.
As I approached the hospital entrance, I was relieved to see the automatic doors slide open. The sterile smell of antiseptic filled my nostrils as I walked inside, the bright fluorescent lights momentarily blinding me. I headed straight to the reception desk, trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of the puppy's paws pressing against my chest.
Receptionist: Good evening. How can I help you?
Scarlet: Hi, I...I hurt my hand. And I found this puppy on the street. Can someone take a look at my hand? And, um, do you know of any nearby animal shelters?
The receptionist looked at me with a mixture of concern and curiosity, quickly noticing the puppy nestled in my arms.
Receptionist: Of course. I'll need you to fill out this form for your injury. As for the puppy, let me call someone from our volunteer animal rescue group. They can take care of it.
I nodded gratefully, taking the clipboard and pen she handed me. I awkwardly filled out the form with my uninjured hand, wincing occasionally as a sharp pain shot through my wrist.
A few minutes later, a nurse came to escort me to an examination room. She gave me a kind smile, her eyes lingering on the puppy.
Nurse: Let's get that hand checked out, and then we'll find someone to take care of the little one.
I followed her down the hallway, the bright lights and bustling activity a stark contrast to the eerie darkness of the streets outside. Until my eyes caught his, he was here too, the same damn Smile that was haunting me was here too. I quickly gulped, it's just a part of my mere déjà vu.
I decided to ignore what I saw, and once inside the examination room, I gently set the puppy on the counter, where it curled up into a tiny, quivering ball. The nurse examined my hand, her touches were gentle yet precise.
Nurse: It looks like you might have a normal sprain. We'll need to get an X-ray to make sure there's no fracture.
Scarlet: Thanks. It happened so quickly...I just saw the puppy and acted without thinking.
The nurse smiled sympathetically.
Nurse: Let's get you to radiology for that X-ray.
As I was led to the radiology department, I couldn't help but think about Kim Taehyung and the eerie feeling I had back at the store. I tried to push those thoughts aside, focusing instead on the present moment.
After the X-ray, I returned to the examination room, where the nurse soon joined me with the results.
Nurse: Good news, it's just a normal sprain. We'll wrap it up, and you'll need to rest it for a few days. Try not to use it too much.
Scarlet: Thank you. I really appreciate it.
The nurse finished wrapping my hand, and I stood up, feeling a mix of exhaustion and relief. I thanked both the nurse and the volunteer, then made my way out of the hospital, my mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, right now.
As I stepped back into the night, the rain had slowed to a gentle drizzle, but it only seems like a warning before the actual storm. I started the walk home, my sprained hand throbbing with each step. Despite the pain, I felt a strange sense of accomplishment. I had saved a life tonight, even if it was a small one.
For now, though, I focused on getting home and resting my injured hand. Tonight, I had done my part. The thought brought a small, weary smile to my lips as I continued through the rain-soaked streets, the city lights reflecting in the puddles at my feet.
When I reached home, it looked so gleaming in the rain, the street looked so pretty, like a fairytale movie, I felt relieved that after all those things I was finally home, I usually leave and return from the back door of my house, the main door is kinda too giant and it took so much effort and locks to be closed or open.
After reaching home I started pulling out my keys in the hole, but it was unlocked already, Shit ! I was right, i hadn't locked the door properly, i quickly made my way inside the empty and dark corridor of my house.
