"Runa, come here real quick!" A maid with red hair and yellow eyes called out to the black haired female. Said female put the books she was carrying next to a big shelf and walked over to the red head.

"What's wrong Kazumi?"

"Could you bring those papers to Koa-San?" Kazumi put the papers she was holding down and pointed at some papers on a wooden shelf.

Kazumi was Runa's closest friend from the Asakumo clan. Not that she had friends outside the clan. They had known each other since they were four years old. Back when they were young they would always walk outside in the garden and look at all the different kinds of flowers. They would pick the beautiful ones and make a crown for each other.

Sometimes Astra would be with them and point at pretty flowers they missed. At the end of the day the three of them would sleep together in Astra's room.

Sadly they can't do that anymore, because Astra is part of the main tree of the family, not like Kazumi and Runa, so they don't see each other often. The elders never liked it in the first place when Astra, Kazumi and Runa would hang out, so they probably pulled some strings to not let them see each other. But that's a long time ago, Runa wasn't sure when exactly she saw Astra the last time.

Runa nodded to Kazumi and picked up the papers. Walking out of the library she made her way to Koa's office. While she walked through the long hallways of the big residence of the Asakumo clan she would meet other maids on the way that greeted her and continued walking. Runa just nodded at them and also continued walking. As she turned around another corner she already saw the door to Koa's office with the big white vase next to it. Painted on the vase were brown flowers and out of the vase towered a big yellow flower.

Once she reached the door she knocked three times and waited for Koa to call her in. When she heard his voice she held the papers with one hand and used the other to push the door open. As she entered the room and closed the door behind her, she quickly bowed to Koa and said "I have some papers for you, Koa-San. Kazumi told me to bring them to you."

Koa looked at her and smiled slightly. His long black hair and grey eyes shining in the sunlight. His hair was put into a half up half down bun. He was standing by the window and held a paper and a pen in his hands. Many young maids at the estate found him handsome. Koa chuckled at Runa as he spoke. "Thanks Runa, just put them on my table. Oh and no need to be so formal when we are alone."

Runa walked over to the big wooden table and put the papers next to a book. It was dark green with gold, fancy looking letters for the title. She turned around to Koa, who was still smiling at her. "What if somebody walked in and heared it? " Koa chuckled again at her words. "Don't worry about that. I'm sure they would understand it, considering that we are siblings."

That's right, the handsome young man with black hair and grey eyes, who happened to be one of the best samurais from the Asakumo clan, and the also black haired girl with dark blue eyes, who is a maid at the Asakumo clan, are siblings.

The black haired girl just sighed at him "Well it was nice seeing you again, but sadly I have to go back to work. Maybe I can write you a letter in the next days." The smile of the young man dropped upon hearing this. "I will see you around," was the only thing he said. Runa just nodded and walked out of the room.

Koa was pretty popular, not only in the Asakumo clan. Many other clans knew of his good sword skills. That's also the reason he is respected by the elders and has his own office. Normally you wouldn't be that popular when you are from the side tree of the family. You could say he made something impossible possible. But that didn't apply to Runa, she was just a normal maid who dreamed  of being a samurai. She wasn't  respected by the elders or by any higher people in the Asakumo clan. When she was younger the elders would always tell her that a girl like her couldn't be a samurai, she should just be like the others and become a maid. But she never thought about being like the others, so she asked her brother to teach her the basics of being a samurai. And now she would sneak out in the night to help the people of the village nearby.

As she walked to the window to look outside, she saw that the sun was about to set. 'Ah, I totally forgot that I have to go to the kitchen.' Runa quickly turned around and walked in the opposite direction of where she came from. As she was about to turn right she nearly bumped into someone. Luckily she took a step left to avoid making a mess. As she looked up she saw Kazumi looking a little bit shocked. The black haired girl bowed her head a little and apologized "I'm sorry Kazumi, I didn't watch where I was going." Kazumi looked at her, still quite surprised "Oh don't worry about it. But I was looking for you. We have to hurry to get to the kitchen." Runa just nodded and let Kazumi drag her to the kitchen.

Upon arrival both of them got scolded by an eldery maid for coming to late. The two girls bowed and apologize and got to work right after.

Kazumi was washing some vegetables while Runa cut them into small pieces.
"I heard Astra will get married soon," Kazumi started a conversation. "Oh really? Must be nice not to do much all day and even get praised for it." It wasn't that Runa didn't like Astra anymore, no she was happy for her friend, she just didn't like the way the people of the main tree got treated in comparison to the people of the side tree.

"So do you know who Astra's husband is going to be?" Runa asked after some time. "No, nobody knows. They want to keep it a secret until the marriage. But I have some ideas of who it could be, you wouldn't believe me," Kazumi said. Runa looked up at her and chuckled. "You will tell me later, right?" Kazumi also looked up. "Yeah sure," she said with a big grin. "Do you want to sleep in my room today?" "Sure, we didn't do that in a long time," the girl with black hair said.

In the past they used to do sleepovers in each other's rooms often, but lately both of them would be pretty exhausted because of work.

"Hey, you two over there get back to work, we can't let the higher ups wait any longer!"

The girls quickly got back to work, but not without apologising for not working properly.
